September 10, 2016 by Jenn

Today I show you how to make Geode Cake Pops in two different ways! A geode is a round rock which contains a hollow cavity lined with crystals. In this cake decorating tutorial I will show you how to make ordinary cake pops into these beautiful geode crystal rocks.

September 5, 2015 by Jenn

These mini milkshakes are ADORABLE!  Thanks to my guest host Paityn for helping me put these together.  They’re super easy to do with kids and would make for a fun birthday party assembly activity.

Shark Cake Pops for Discovery’s Shark Week

August 9, 2014 by Jenn
It’s time for Discovery’s Shark Week people!  Get your life preservers, and water wings out as it’s time to head to the ocean! Or maybe not.  With Shark Week all over social media and television, heading to the ocean right now is not at the top of my list.  I’ll head out later once the images of razor sharp teeth, wide hinged jaws, and hungry feeding sharks have faced from memory.

Discovery contacted us to make something to help them celebrate shark week, so I thought that making some cute shark cake pops would be less traumatizing for some of our younger viewers.  Shark week was originally started “to raise awareness and respect for sharks”.  I guess shark week was the answer to the terror that Jaws created in the 1975- lets be friends instead!

Pot of Gold Cake Pops for Saint Patricks Day

March 1, 2014 by Jenn

Happy March!  Now that it is officially March, I can start thinking all things St Patrick’s Day!  And all things Spring, but that is WAY too much to ask here in Canada.  So I’ll stick to Leprechauns and Pot’s of Gold.  I think that every kid has once thought that if they could just get to the end of that rainbow, there would be a gleaming pot of gold at the end of it.  I’m still trying to find it, aren’t you?  I think I’ll have better odds if I take up playing the lottery.  Aren’t your odds of winning the lottery less than they are of being struck by lightning?  I guess that means that my odds of finding a pot of gold are even slimmer than the lottery.  Besides, playing the lottery is a lot less work!  It’s mountainous around these ‘ere parts.  It’s me and the lottery now.

Since now that I’ve given up trying to find the end of the rainbow, I’ll just have to stick with making a pot of gold!!  Making these cake pops is pretty standard, but with a little twist of putting them upside down, voila, you have the rim of the pot!!  Genius, I know.   Since it takes the royal icing rainbow so long to dry, you might want to start with those a day early.  If you can’t find black melting chocolate, you can also use brown.  I tried brown in my practice versions, and it looked great too!  Also, when it comes to the yellow sugar pearls, you can use any small round sprinkle/candy for the  “gold”, or even just regular yellow/gold sanding sugar.

Have fun, and good luck searching.

I’m off to buy a lottery ticket.

Hot Chocolate Push Pops

December 11, 2013 by Jenn

Continuing on here with our Hot Chocolate theme of late, I’ve made a tutorial on hot chocolate push pops!  I adore push pops.  If I had kids, this would be the only way to serve desserts.  It would totally save the mess of cupcakes smeared all over faces, and tables, and clothing.  Or maybe I’m just imaging I would have prim and proper children who would daintily nibble at the push pop.   Hmmm, kids are sounding better and better!  They’d be like the Downton Abbey babies…but without the nannies, or servants, or castle.

To make these Hot Chocolate Push Pops you will need a batch (or two depending on how many pops you want to make).  If you haven’t tried my homemade brownie recipe, make sure you do!  It’s so good . . . but a box mix will work just fine too if you don’t have time for scratch.

These push pops are very simple to assemble.  The only challenging part is cutting the brownie with the cookie cutter!  I had indents on my palm, but after a couple pushes, I smartened up and used a knife (I was smart enough to show that in the video).

How To Make Smurf Cake Pops

July 21, 2013 by Jenn

Learn how to make Smurf cake pops in this video of mine! Of course, being a child of the 80’s The Smurfs were a cartoon classic.  Now, that they are back in movie format, I thought it would be a good time to share some Smurf themed treats . . . I’ll have a second Smurf cupcake video coming up soon as well.
