Homemade Brownie Recipe

September 20, 2013 by Jenn

Oh my gosh, I’m having the worst chocolate craving right now!!  What is better than a gooey, moist, chewy brownie?  Maybe a glass of milk to go with it?! I’m going to have to make up another batch of these . . . to give away of course.  Of course, not.

A brownie isn’t a brownie to me unless there are chocolate chunks or chocolate chips!  These brownies have all of my prerequisites for a delicious brownie…so if you’re a brownie snob like me, check this recipe out.  There’s nothing worse than a brownie that tastes like CAKE.

Homemade Brownie Ingredients
– ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (50g)
– ½ all-purpose flour (60g)
– 1 cup sugar (200g)
– ½ cup butter (120g)
– 2 eggs
– 2 cups chocolate chips
– ¼ teaspoon salt
– ¼ teaspoon baking soda
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– chopped pecans
– caramel syrup

Procedure:

Cream together the butter, sugar and eggs.

Add the vanilla extract, and combine.

Mix in the cocoa powder, flour, baking soda and salt.

Once the ingredients are incorporated, add the chocolate chips and combine.

Bake in a preheated oven at 350F, for 25-30 minutes.

The chopped nuts can also be added at this time, or you can use them for garnish like I did in the video.  I also used some caramel syrup to dress the brownies up a bit in the tutorial.  This is obviously optional.

Hi Jen, I am a huge fan of your channel and blog and I was just wondering before I try this recipe out if it can be made without the chocolate chips.
    Thank you so much!

    Hello Jenn, I have a question, when you say 1/2 all-purpose flour is = 80g or 60g? In your conversions is 1/2 m all-purpose flour = 60g and 2/3 cup is 80g, please, is it a mistake?

Thanks for pointing that out. I’ve made the change in the recipe.

Those brownies look gorgeous. I’ve tried about 10 recipes for brownies and they always crumble, dry up or taste like cake – yuck! I’ll have to try these soon ^^

Good luck! I hope you like them…I always undercook my brownies so they are extra chewy as I hate dry ones too!

Don’t these brownies need to be cooked?

Yes, bake in a preheated oven at 350F, for 25-30 minutes. This was stated in the video, and I’ve updated the blog post with the same info. Thanks for catching that!
