Chocolate Covered Strawberries Bouquet for Mother’s Day

April 30, 2014 by Jenn

Mother’s Day is one of the most special days for all of the amazing women in our lives!  If you are lucky enough to have a Mom like the one that I do, you are incredibly fortunate.  My Mom and I recently starting working together and we are currently teaching the same grade, at the same school.  Being that we both have the same last name, it’s a little tricky for the adults in the building, but our 5 year old students seem to understand the difference just fine.  It’s quite funny actually.  The adults seem to stumble over how to refer and differentiate between the two Kindergarten teachers, but the kids, just go with the flow and line up with the right person each day.  Having this new working relationship with my mom has been very special, and it has allowed me to see the genius she has in her craft of teaching.  She is an amazing role model to students, parents and to her colleagues.

I wanted to make her something special for Mother’s Day this year, and knowing that she loves chocolate and strawberries, I knew I had to turn them into a bouquet for her this year.  Last year she got a cupcake bouquet, which she loved, but I know that when I make this again for her on May 11, 2014, she’s going to love it even more than she did her bouquet last year.

Gathering the skewers together in the centre of the vase was the only tricky part to this video.  I used a twist tie to secure them in place, and this also helped to stabilize the structure.  The length of the skewers can make standing the up can create quite a tilt in the vase, so make sure that your vase is secure before you abandon it on the counter!

The tutorial is very simple and can be done with kids of all ages.  It is also a healthy alternative to other sweets that you might be inclined to make for Mom . . . not that there is anything wrong with that, but with the push for people to stay away from sugar lately, this is one of those tutorials that does just that!

I hope you have a great Mom in your life like I do, and that you take time to recognize the amazing woman that she is!

How to make a Chocolate Strawberry Bouquet for Mother’s Day

Ingredients:

  • Strawberries, washed and stems removed
  • Green grapes, washed
  • Melted chocolate (white, dark)
  • Rainbow sprinkles
  • Mini foil candy cups (or mini cupcake liners)
  • Bamboo skewers
  • Vase with narrow opening
  • Ribbon (5/8″)

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Procedure
  1. Wash, dry and remove stems from strawberries.  Melt chocolate. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Dip strawberries into melted chocolate.  Cover strawberries in both white, and dark chocolate.  In some of the white dipped strawberries, cover the chocolate in sprinkles.  Set tray into fridge to allow chocolate to harden completely.
  3. Once hardened, remove from fridge, and assemble grape, foil cup, and then strawberry onto the skewer.  Set into vase. Repeat as many times as desired.  If desired, trim bamboo skewers to a shorter length and arrange the same way as with the larger skewers.
  4. When finished filling vase, tie a ribbon around the skewers near the center of the skewers, and arrange shorter skewers along the base of the long skewers.
  5. If desired, tie small bows around a couple of skewers.
  6. Serve immediately.

Happy Mother’s Day Mom!

Thanks for posting this chocolate strawberry bouquet. This would be a great gift for Mother’s Day. I like that this bouquet also has green grapes skewered at the bottom of the mini foil candy cups that hold the strawberries. That seems like a great way to add more fruit to decorate this bouquet for my mom.

    Hi Jenn!
I love your videos and visit your website almost everyday! I told some other people about you, and now they come to this amazing website too! I have noticed you use the same type of melting wafers every time and I was wondering where I could get them. I don’t have a Bulk Barn near me, because I live in Ohio, USA.
    Thank you!
    Reisha
