I just have to ask . . . when are the girlie movies coming out? The other day I told you about my Star Trek cupcakes (and how I’m not a Trekkie, but the love of popcorn brings me to the theatre). As much as I love the movies, I just don’t like these comic book characters. Honestly I struggled with the motivation for these cake pops, as I just don’t get why someone called Iron Man is popular. But, many people don’t understand why a Louboutin is popular . . . so touche. As I was practicing for these cake pops, which actually turned out quite cute (can I say cute in reference to Iron Man?), I looked that them at one point and realized I had put the face on upside down. Oops. But, don’t worry, I have the faces the right way round in the video!! Perhaps I should have let Paul drag me to the theatre to see this movie . . . where a grown man wears a costume . . . and his chest glows. . . uh, I think I’ll stick the Star Trek.
How to Make Iron Man Cake Pops
– cake crumbs
– buttercream
– red melting chocolate
- yellow fondant
– lollipop sticks
– black gel paste
– paint brush (fine tip)
If you know how to put together cake pops, you’re going to find this step by step super easy to do! For the first step, you will need to combine the cake crumbs with the buttercream. The amount of buttercream that you put into the cake crumbs will depend on the amount of cake crumbs you have. Start with tablespoon increments, and go by feel. You want the cake crumbs and buttercream to have a playdough consistency.
After getting the correct consistency, you will need to shape the dough into ovals/egg shapes for the base of the cake pop. After you have them shaped, put them into the freezer for about 10 minutes to solidify them.
While they are freezer, melt your red chocolate wafers. Bring the cake pops out of the freezer and dip the tip of the lollipop sticks into the chocolate, and insert into the cake pop. You will need to freeze them again at this point.
After the stick has solidified into the pop, you will need to begin the dipping process. Insert the cake pop into the melted chocolate and gently tap the pop to allow any excess chocolate to drip off of the pop. Allow the pops to dry.
When the red coating has dried, you will need to use the face template to cut out the yellow fondant. Using water, attach the face to the pop. Using the black piping gel and fine tipped paint brush add the mouth. Using the white gel, add the eyes.
