Are you a self professed Trekkie? If you are, I hope I have done these cupcake toppers justice. I am NOT a Trekkie, but I do love the hype of all things movie related. I will watch any movie as long as it is dark, loud and I have a bag of popcorn in my lap. I haven’t yet been to the new Star Trek, but we’re hoping to make our way to the local theatre this week to catch it!
In this video we show you how to make Star Trek uniform cupcakes with matching star backdrop cupcakes. These Star-Trek cupcakes are quick the easy to make … let’s get started!
How to make Star Trek Cupcakes
– Cupcakes (any type you like)
– Fondant (red, blue, yellow, grey, black)
– Black buttercream
– Heart cutter
– Pedal cutter
– Lustre dust
– 2″ Cookie Cutter
– Small paint brushes
– Dragees (different sizes)
– Black gel paste
The cupcake toppers will need time to dry in order to harden, you may want to make them before you make your cupcakes. In the video, you will see how to cut out the uniform (circle cutter), and then use the heart cutter to cut out the neckline, and the petal cutter to cut out the logo. Using the black piping gel and a paint brush, you will be able to paint a fine line on the logo to help it stand out.
To decorate the galaxy like cupcakes, you will need black buttercream and different sized silver balls. I used small silver dragees, and coco-cola round candies for this. I found them both at Bulk Barn.
I hope you enjoy this tutorial! If you’ve been to the movie yet, is it worth it?
Happy Baking!
