Giant Gummy Cola Bottle – 3 Ways to Make Gummy Bottles

March 13, 2016 by Jenn

Today I am showing you how to make giant gummy soda bottles using three different techniques!

Making these gummy bottles is super easy . . . and so yummy! In this tutorial, I show you how to make three different versions of gummy bottles- using Jello, using the soda and gelatin, and coloring one rainbow. The soda one is my favourite, as I have a special love for cola bottles since being a kid. I love the mini cola bottles, so I thought making a homemade giant one would be so much fun.  We’ve been making gummy candy on my channel for years, so moving onto the cola bottle was a natural place to go!Using the pop in the recipe for the gummy definitely helps to keep the authenticity of the flavour in the bottle.

The Jello ones look great (and are the easiest to make and easiest to remove from the plastic mold) but they are the least authentic, as they take on the flavour of the Jello, not the pop. But, the benefit of these ones is the fabulous colors you can get! I want to make cream soda and grape crush next!

The third way is to make a pudding like rainbow gummy.  Using sweetened condensed milk gives the gummy the pudding flavour and texture. Dividing equal portions of the liquid into small bowls and adding coloring gives the pudding a fun rainbow twist.

Tips: spray the inside of the bottle with non stick spray to aid in removal of the plastic bottle. Coke is the hardest to get out of the bottle! If your colored mixture starts to solidify before you’re able to get it into the rainbow bottle, simple re-microwave it to get it to a liquid state again.

Sprite/Orange Crush (with Jello) Gummy Bottle

Ingredients:

  • 500 mL pop
  • 8 packs (56 grams) gelatin
  • 2 packs (170 grams) Jello (lime for Sprite, Orange for Crush etc)

Procedure:

  1. Empty pop from the bottle in a medium bowl, and let sit out to become flat (loses carbonation).
  2. Prep pop bottle by removing label (and saving it), and spraying the inside of the bottle with non stick spray.
  3. In a small bowl, mix gelatin and jello crystals together with a whisk.
  4. Heat pop in the microwave, or over the stove until just boiling. Pour in gelatin and mix with a spoon or spatula until no clumps remain.
  5. Pour into pop bottle, place lid back on bottle, and place in the freezer for one hour, or fridge for 3.
  6. To remove gummy from the bottle, slice pop bottle with an X-Acto knife and gently remove pieces of the plastic until the gummy remains.
  7. Wrap wrapper back around the bottle.
  8. Keep gummy wrapped in plastic wrap, and in the fridge until ready to eat.

If you save the bottom of the bottle you can make it so it stands up. The top cut about 1/4of an inch below the thread’s and the top eill fit perfectly. Because it is clear you will not hardly notice
