Star Wars Cupcakes- Collab with Elise Strachan from My Cupcake Addiction

August 15, 2015 by Jenn

Today we are joined by Elise from My Cupcake Addiction in a Star Wars collaboration video!  We show you how to make five Star Wars Cupcakes- Jawa, R2 D2, Lightsabers, Chewbacca, and TIE Fighters!

Elise and I have been talking via email for years.  She is one of the kindest and most helpful people I have met since we started on YouTube.  Finally getting to meet in real life was so exciting, and a wonderful opportunity to have gained a new IRL friend.  We had so much fun creating these videos for everyone.  And of course, dualing with lightsabers was awesome!

These Star Wars cupcakes are simple and easy for decorators of any level to get into.  If you like piping, you’re going love working on Chewbacca and R2 D2.  The piping on R2 D2 is easy, yet precise- which I always find calming for some reason.  Chewbacca is just simply easy.  You can make his fur as neat, or as messy as you choose, which makes it a great cupcake for kids to learn decorating with.  With the Jawa cupcake, you get to practice piping with a petal tip, which is one of my favourite shapes of tips to use.  It’s so versatile.  Rounding out the five Star Wars cupcakes, the Lightsabers and TIE fighters involve some play with chocolate.

Please make sure you head over to My Cupcake Addiction‘s channel where Elise shows me how to make a Star Wars Cake . . . it’s super cool, it’s a pull-apart cupcake cake made into light sabers!

Star Wars Cupcakes

 TIE Fighter Cupcakes

TIE Fighter Cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • gold star sprinkles
  • silver dragees
  • hexagon cookies
  • melting chocolate
Procedure:
  1. Attach hexagon cookies together with a marshmallow in-between, using melted chocolate.
  2. Add chocolate details to the cookies if desired.
  3. Cover cupcake with buttercream, dragees, gold sprinkles, and completed TIE fighters.

TIE Fighters are the Imperial standard starfighter with a very recognizable sound from the roar of the engines.   A great advantage the TIE fighters have is the ability to hover and fly sideways.  Unfortunately, the TIE Fighters have a lack life-support, hyper-drive and combat shield.

r2d2 Cupcakes

R2 D2 Cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • white buttercream
  • blue buttercream
  • black buttercream
  • red round dragees
  • small round tips (2-5)

Procedure:

  1. Cover cupcake with a large dome of white icing and pipe on R2 D2 details with blue buttercream fitted with a small round tip.
  2. Add black “knobs” and red “light” to the front of the cupcake dome.

R2 D2  can never seem to stay out of trouble and trouble always found him!  R2 D2 is a very adventurous and resourceful droid that helped in saving the galaxy many times! He has had many years of operation and has been a long time protector of the Queen.  He always seemed to a have a trick up his scomp link arm.

 Jawa Cupcakes

Jawa Cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • yellow round dragees
  • brown buttercream with 104 tip
  • black buttercream with 1A tip

Procedure:

  1. Pipe flat top to cupcake with white buttercream.
  2. Pipe a small mound of black buttercream in the center of the cupcake.
  3. Using the brown buttercream, wrap the hood and shoulders of the cloak around the black facial area.
  4. Add yellow eyes for detail.

Jawa, the scavenger species of Tatooine, are always searching for anything that could be useful to anyone- even if it meant interrupting R2 D2 on his mission to find Obi Wan.  Good thing that Luke and his uncle were there to buy some droids from the Jawa’s!

 Chewbacca Cupcakes

Chewbacca Cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • white buttercream
  • small round tips (2-5)
  • brown buttercream
  • light brown buttercream
  • black buttercream

Procedure:

  1. Pipe flat top to cupcake with white buttercream.
  2. Pipe the fur using the 2 different colours of brown buttercream.
  3. Pipe the eyes with the light brown icing, the nose with the black and the mouth with the white.

“Grrwaaaarggggh!”  Chewbacca is the copilot and very skilled mechanic of the Millennium Falcon and a true and loyal friend.  He bravely fought beside Han Solo many times because of the life debt Chewie owed to Han from many years before.

 Lightsabers Cupcakes

Lightsabers Cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • red chocolate
  • blue chocolate
  • pretzels
  • red sanding sugar
  • blue sanding sugar
Procedure:
  1. Coat pretzel sticks in red and/blue melting chocolate.  Allow to harden.
  2. Pipe a small amount of dark chocolate as the handle at the end of the pretzels.  Allow to harden.
  3. Pipe a small white mound of icing on the cupcake.
  4. Sprinkle with red and blue sanding sugar.
  5. Place completed light sabers on top, crossing them in the middle.

Lightsabers are wielded by Jedi Knights and Siths .  Peace and justice throughout the galaxy are synonymous the Light Saber and the Jedi Order.  The lightsaber is  greatly respected and feared when used by an expert of the Force.

I’m hoping to make the light saber pull apart cupcakes for my sons birthday, but I can’t seem to find the template anywhere on your website or the cupcake addiction website. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
