Although I stupidly sound like this is a sponsored video, be assured that it is NOT!! I paid $29 CAN for this fun machine at *cough* WalMart *cough* . Would I admit that I shop at WalMart if I didn’t have to?
This machine looked really cool when I saw it on the shelf (thanks to Paul for pointing me to it!). I knew that if I had kids at home, I would love to hear an unbiased review of it before I committed to purchasing it. So here it is . . . it is fun, bright, and easy to use, but if you already have silicone moulds at home, or know where to find them, you can save yourself $29 and use them and the microwave.
Making gummies is super easy, all you need is gelatin, Jello and water! If you’re so inclined, so can replace the water in the mixture with fruit juice for an extra fruity flavour. I believe that the required amount of unflavoured gelatin powder creates the perfect chewiness, but if you find it too chewy, you can cut back one package. The molds that are included in the machine are for a giant gummy bear, gummy worms, gummy fish and other gummy bears.
I hope you enjoy this review and making your own gummy bears!!
Gummy Candy
Ingredients:
- Ice
- 3 envelopes unflavoured gelatin (21g)
- 1 package any flavoured Jello 4 serving size (85g)
- 1/2 cup water (120mL)
Procedure:
- Assemble and interlock the trays to form a ring.
- Fill trays with ice 1/2-3/4 full. Place gummy silicone moulds on top. Arrange heating machine in the centre ring of the trays and turn on.
- Add water, unflavoured gelatin and jello and whisk until mixed thoroughly. The mixture may thicken at this point but will liquify when it heats up. Allow mixture to warm until the gelatin has been dissolved in the water. This took about 10 minutes when I was using the machine.
- At this point the mixture will be hot. Carefully pour the liquid into the gummy candy molds (worms, fish and bears).
- Allow to set completely, which took 15 minutes for mine.
- To remove gummy’s from the silicone mould, gently peel the gummy’s away from the sides of the mold.
- Store in a sealed container for 2-3 days.
Giant Gummy Bear
Ingredients:
- 6 envelopes unflavoured gelatin (42g)
- 2 packages any flavoured Jello 4 serving size (170g)
- 1 cup water (240mL)
- Gumbo gummy bear mold
Procedure:
- In a microwaveable bowl, add gelatin and jello to the water. Whisk ingredients together.
- Place bowl into the microwave and heat for 1-2 minutes, until crystals have dissolved.
- Whisk ingredients at 30 second intervals to help if needed.
- When the crystals have dissolved, pour into the giant gummy mold.
- Allow to set for 30-45 minutes.
- Remove from mould and serve immediately.
All in all I think this is a cool machine, BUT I don’t think that it is necessary to have to make gummy candy. You can make them at home using your own moulds and the microwave.
Hi! I would just like to say that I have this machine that I did use prior with my children and of course as every other machine maker we’ve had… I lost the instructions!! So I just wanted to say TY bc your video was step by step on point and ABSOLUTELY easy to follow!! I watch so many other YouTube videos on reviews and things and they spend 20 minutes talking about nothing!!! You’re great!! Thanks again!
Thank you so much 🙂 Glad I was able to help out

That’s awesome! Thanks for letting me know!
were they chewy and rubbery like the store bought ones?
If I was to put it in the freezer how long will it need to be in there for ?
Just a couple of minutes…about 10-15..or until it’s set.
Hi I was wondering what is the name of the brand of product for giant gummy bear mold, please and thanks .
It’s Nostalgia Electrics, and I found it at WalMart a few years ago.
I think its beautiful i can just imagine me taking a huge bite into the jumbo gummy bear my dad said i can have it he’s buying it on ebay and the jello and Gelatin im so exited about making it when I’ve made it i will show you a picture ; )
Dont you think that it would be cool if u made another jumbo gummy bear and stuck it to the other jumbo gummy bear u made and make it 3 D ? And did it with the smaller ones
To Jenn
Does the ice just keep the gummy cold ?
Do you have to put ice in them ?
What does the ice do ?
I love it. Thanks for sharing. It would be good on a little talk show my friend and i do. We will talk about it and give cred for you giving us ideas. I am inspired by you to cook without worrying because you sound so chilled and relaxed in your voice. Luv ya bunches!

Hi! Thanks so much for leaving a comment…I’d love to see your talk show!
Hi (C)3! I think you’re adorable and I love your YouTube channel. I saw this yesterday and was lucky enough to have a snow day today so i could try it! I can’t stop eating them. I just used a double boiler to heat the gelatin, though. If I use sugar free JELLO, how would that change the recipe/measurements?
I haven’t tried the sugar free Jello, but I imagine it wouldnt be any different. Glad you liked the treats!
Hi Jehn I am from Greece and want buy this machine and I want buy from greece Can I buy ??
I’m not sure, sorry. I got it at WalMart in Canada.
I’m so glad I came across your site. My daughter got one for Christmas and I thought we had too much flavored gelatin. I’ve made homemade fruit snacks at home using unflavored and pureed fruit. I’m glad you showed the serving size of gelatin because the directions that came with it didn’t say what size box of flavored gelatin (although we were fine). Unflavored is a given 🙂 Not only that, and I should of known better by experience we didn’t heat up the gelatin enough until it was clear liquid. I like your idea of using a microwave for patience sake. If you use a micro be very careful and work in 20 second intervals stiring in between because when gelatin gets too hot it boils over. But, the kids are still eating the first batch. Downside, I’m out of unflavored gelatin now for a second go! Grrr 🙂 Gelatin is very versatile. You can drink a glass of it a day for your skin and bones, you can make homemade prosthetic’s for play and paint to wear, (with a a couple more easily accessible ingredients), you can make toy molds with it, holiday themed window clings…too much fun!!
Where can u find the gummy candy maker
I got mine at Walmart.
these are awesome! normally make my giant gummy bears by melting other lollies 😀
i was just wondering… do yours melt at room temperature? you say to serve immediately, does that mean they don’t keep?
No they don’t melt…I only mean to serve immediately as they are at their optimum freshness. They last a couple of days in a sealed container.
This is a really fun recipe! I am not supposed to eat gelatine but I loved seeing how it was done! 🙂
I’m glad you liked it! Thanks for watching.
Do you need to put the little gummy bears in the freezer of just let them sit out???
You can leave them to sit out and they will harden eventually.
