Yay! Spring is finally here!!
It’s rainy and dark here in the East Kootenay’s of Canada, but I’ll take the warmer weather and sporadic sunny days over winter and snow any day! What makes me think happy spring days (besides the end of school?!) are SUNFLOWERS!! Yes, I know they are a fall flower, but they are so sunny and bright, that you can’t help but be cheery.
I used to have a huge collection of sunflower belongings, but having moved twice in one year, lots of it “disappeared”. I have my favourites still, a stained glass piece my uncle got me from the East Coast of Canada, and a vase (that he also got me). I’m not into the whole country-chic home decor, so I’m trying to keep the rest of sunflowers in the garden . . . at school! I had my Kinders plant them this spring so we can enjoy them this fall.
In this video we show you how to make sunflower cupcakes. These sunflower cupcakes are quick and easy to make … enjoy!
How to Make Sunflower Cupcakes:
– Cupcakes (any type you like)
– Melted Chocolate
– Oreo Cookies (or similar sized and shaped cookies)
– Yellow buttercream with Wilton tip 366
– Green buttercream with Wilton tip 1A
– Cookie Crumbs
Procedure:
To make these cupcakes, the first thing you will need to do is pipe a round border around the outside of the cupcake top with the green buttercream. Next, using melted chocolate, coat the centre of the Oreo cookie and then dip in the cookie crumbs. Press the cookie, crumb side up, into the centre of the ring of green buttercream. The final step is to pipe the yellow leaves around the outside of the cookie. See the video for the piping technique and how to make the petals.
Happy Baking!
