I’m going to assume that anyone reading this post has seen the hands-down most fabulous Christmas movie to ever fill theatres and home TV screens . . . National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation! It is my number one favourite Christmas movie, and every year, I HAVE to watch it at least once. I am such a nerd and have watched it so many times, I can quote half of the movie, and my favourite quote is “Little full, lotta sap”. It kills me everytime I watch it.
This year, I am proud to say that my family is finally taking after the Griswolds. My sister-in-law posted this picture on Facebook with the caption “That went well.”
I had to share this with everyone because it is so funny. L’s losing his mind. E’s wanting off so badly. My brother’s trying to get out of the picture and Santa has no idea what is going on . . or he’s swinging at my brother!
Back to the post at hand . . . and enough bragging about how Griswold my family is . . .
This video is up for you to check out how to make sugar Christmas trees!
For these cookies, you’re going to need to check out a couple of previous posts/videos… Sugar Cookies, Flooding and Royal Icing. All you will need is a simple tree shaped cookie cutter, or you could even get away with using a triangle shaped cutter.
Check out our other holiday cookie videos/posts:
Santa’s Belly
I hope your family had more success with their family Santa photo, but I know we have one that will last the ages! Griswold or not.
Happy Holidays!
That’s my favourite movie too!! I watch it all year long. It’s too funny to save for just Christmas time lol. Any chance we’ll see some Griswold themed baked goods soon? 😉
I have to save it for this time of year (I’m worried I would get bored of it!) . . . watched it right after I posted this for the first time this year. I’ll have to search for some Griswold goodies….maybe some jelly salad with cat food??
Hilarious photo and post. Love Christmas Vacation. It is the best Holiday Movie ever!
I swear one day I’ll make sugar cookies and ice them as you have. (I shudder to think how much icing I have to ice 1 cookie.)
I plan to make those cookie/cream cheese truffles in the next few weeks.
Thanks for the comments and your entertaining posts. You make it seem so easy. I think that a steady hand is needed that most novices don’t have (decorating with the icing as well as icing the side of the cake on the lazy susan.) You make it look easy but I know that’s from lots of practice. [I watched your red velvet cake– and noted how important it was to be time efficient for parts of the process. But then to watch you frost the already chilled frosted cake- HA! I knew if i tried that i’d still have red velvet crumbles on my 2nd layer if frosting).
All the best, Jenn…
Have a fab week
