Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Cake- TMNT

TURTLE POWER! Having grown up in the 80’s with only a brother to be entertained by, I was “forced” to play with his Ninja Turtles, and “forced” to watch the TV show a time or two! I guess that was payback for making him play Barbies and My Little Pony!
When I heard there was a new 2014 movie coming out, I knew I had to make a cake- for remembrance sake! I can’t say I’ve kept up on the on goings of the Turtles since the 80’s and while making the video for this cake, I had to research which Turtle was which; Michelangelo is the orange mask, Donatello the blue, Raphael the red one, and Leonardo wears the purple mask. Don’t ask me which one has which weapon though! I obviously didn’t pay much attention to role play when we were with Splinter in sewer! I don’t think it’s a toy or series that really warrants much deep thought- why are turtles running around on two legs being ninja’s in the sewer?
I think this is a perfect cake and cake pop idea for those of our viewers that have been asking for it, as well as “boy” themed cakes ideas. For this cake I use TMNT cake pops to place into the top of the cake, and they provide a fun little extra for four special party goers! I hope all the children of the 80’s and the kids of today (a whole new generation that loves the Turtles), enjoy this cake idea!

Spiderman Cake Pops (Spider-Man)

Obviously I should work on my theme song lyrics before trying to sing them to you.
The new Spiderman movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is coming out in a couple of weeks, and I’m super excited to see it. I think that’s because I spent hours watching the 80’s cartoon version at home with my brother. I’m one of those nostalgic type people who usually prefers the original version over the new, revamped versions of old shows, but in this case, I’m super excited to see the new effects that are worked into the current version! As a kid I always wanted web-shooters, and to be able to climb up buildings to see what was on top. But, instead what I got as an adult is Spider-man cake pops.
These cake pops are a tad bit tedious and will definitely take some time to put together. You may not want to make a 100 of these, but 12 would be manageable. There are a number of other ways to make the web on the mask of the cake pop, but I found the most clean version was to use fondant. You could try it with melted chocolate, but I don’t usually have luck with precision work when it comes to melted chocolate on top of cake pops. I prefer to use that combination when things can be a little messier.

Birthday Cake Pops

I’ve been at this blogging thing for a few years now, I’m by no means an expert, but with January 2014 fast approaching I feel the need to write about the year that has gone by and the year ahead and include all of my “knowledge” for future generations of bakers.
Hahaha! Did you believe that for a minute?
But in all seriousness, I have a YouTube channel, and I occasionally write some things down on a blog. Someone wrote to me the other day, and asked me if I was “famous, or just YouTube famous”. Um, what? Was that an insult, or a compliment? And why is that a question? I’m just a woman working her way through a non-traditional job, with a very dedicated supporter, producer and partner (he’s a one man do-it-all-team!), and I’m having a blast at reaching people all around the world. I’ve learned so much from viewers’ comments and questions and I would have never have had the opportunity to talk to so many people if it weren’t for the videos we post. We live in a very small town, which holds our families (some of them) and the size of it can be quite stifling at times. With YouTube, we have been able to reach outside of our city and connect with others in many other countries. Some of the friends that I’ve made over the last few years are only “internet” friends, but they are some of the people who I now care for dearly and speak to more often than I do my “in real life” friends. 2013 was an amazing year for us, and we can’t wait for what 2014 brings!
January 1, brings about another important day . . . my birthday! Which brings me to the birthday cake pops I made to celebrate!
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – Flaming Arrow Cake Pops

If you don’t know, Catching Fire is the second book in the trilogy The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins. It is Young Adult in nature, but it is an excellent series if you haven’t read it! I don’t normally go for fantasy reads, but this is one that I definitely enjoyed reading. Katniss Everdeen is the “The Girl on Fire” so we created some flaming arrow cake pops!

Ice Cream Cone Rainbow Cake Pops

I have known Paityn now for quite some time, so when the idea of working on another video with her came up, we jumped at it! She is the kindest, and sweetest girl ever! Our viewers have been saying the exact same things about her in the comment section of her videos with us (which she has three).
In this video together we make mini ice cream cone rainbow cake pops! The mini cones are the cutest things I’ve ever seen . . . I imagine that if I had kids of my own, I would already know these existed but I had never seen them before.
