Valentine’s day has come and gone . . . once again! And I next year, I’m taking the day off so I can focus on our orders and clients! We are so FORTUNATE to have had so many people want to include us in their need to send their loved one something SWEET! My Fortunate Friday post is dedicated to all of you <3
I have posted some of our cupcake ideas and corresponding YouTube videos but here is a run down on them if you want to review . . . Heart Shaped Valentine’s Day Cake, Heart Shaped Cupcakes for Valentine’s Day Video, How to Make Valentine’s Day Cupcakes- Video.
Now, onto the new cakes from Valentine’s Day! As much as I would love to save them and show them to you in a new post February 14, 2013, there is no way that I will remember to do so! Besides, I can always repost next year, when everyone will be in a mad rush to find the perfect cake to make for their SWEETheart!
This heart shaped “Be Mine” cake, is all buttercream baby! Real 100% fatting butter. No one should ever have to settle for an impostor such as shortening? Yuck! It pains me to even say the word! The first step for this cake was to bake a chocolate cake in the heart shaped cake pan (very handy this time of year!), and then I dyed the buttercream a beautiful red colour! There will be more information on dying buttercream in a upcoming post. The feedback I got from this cake was hilarious . . . It was sooooo delicious and he had no idea how much his wife paid for the it (the cake) but it was worth it! Always great to hear when making cakes in a small town such as Cranbrook 🙂
This cake was also a heart shaped cake (obviously!) but this one was red velvet with cream cheese icing, and wrapped in red fondant. The accented white hearts are also cut out from fondant.
** This post was meant to go out on FRIDAY but I came down with a touch of the flu 🙁 Sorry it’s late!
How did YOU celebrate Valentine’s day?
