KitchenAid Artisan MINI Mixer REVIEW & GIVEAWAY!

November 18, 2016 by Jenn

I’m so excited to finally get my hands on a KitchenAid Mini Artisan Stand Mixer! I put it through a review to see if it really is 20% smaller, and 25% lighter than the Classic! I challenge it’s “soft start” function, capacity and power! Because I love my subscribers so much, I also bought one of you a Mini Mixer! To enter, you must be subscribed to the channel, like the video and leave a comment about what you will bake with the mixer first. I will be choosing a random winner during my livestream on Sunday November 27. The giveaway is open to Canada and the USA as the cost of shipping such a large item internationally is expensive.

How to Make Vanilla Ice Cream with KitchenAid Ice Cream Attachment

July 8, 2014 by Jenn

Making homemade ice cream is a tutorial that I have been wanting to do for forever!!  I love ice cream.  Unfortunately it doesn’t love me.  But, I keep coming back to it, expressing my love, and never ending commitment.  It doesn’t matter.  It wants nothing to do with me.

Also having love and devotion for my KitchenAid mixers, I had my sights set on the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment.  I had seen it for over a hundred dollars from a couple of stores, so when I found it on sale for $90 CAD, I ordered it right away from Golda’s Kitchen, which is an online baking supply store in Canada.

I was set to love this attachment.  I always do that to myself.  I set myself up for adoration, and when it doesn’t live up to my level of love, I’m disappointed.  I think I thought that this attachment would magically make ice cream, pretty much instantaneously.  But, you actually have to MAKE ice cream!  Well, duh Jenn . . . life is not meant for laziness!

In my naivety, I thought I would just have to throw the ingredients into the freeze bowl and turn it on, and viola, ICE CREAM.  Nope, not how’s it done.  You have to warm and cook the creams, sugar and eggs, and THEN you can throw them into the freeze bowl?!  NOPE.  You have to chill the warm mixture first for eight hours, and THEN you can throw the mixture into the freeze bowl?!  YES!  Finally.

Other than the fact that this machine is not a magic machine, I liked it.  You have to be prepared though since many of the steps require freezing and chilling.  The freeze bowl needs to be completely frozen before using it, and in the directions it says not to take the bowl out of the freezer until you are ready to pour the cream in- and they mean it.  I tested that accidentally.   If the freeze bowl is not completely frozen, the ice cream will not freeze, no matter how much you stir it, will it, or scream at it.  Trust me on that one.

I would also like to make a comment to the parts “namers” at KitchenAid . . .”freeze bowl”, “dasher”, “driver”. . . seriously KitchenAid?  You couldn’t have found better names for these parts?  It took me like a million takes to get those names right!  It felt like I was reading off Santa’s reindeer.

BeaterBlade for the KitchenAid Tilt-Head Review

March 7, 2013 by Jenn

As a baker always looking for a shortcut in the kitchen (and through life), I love sharing products that help me save time in the kitchen.

I am always using my KitchenAid Stand Mixers for making cakes, cupcakes and buttercreams, and CONSTANTLY having to clean the paddle blade.  Over.  And over.  And over.  Scrape the bowl, wipe the blade.  Scrape the bowl, wipe the blade.  Repeat.

Well, not any longer!

I have been using the BeaterBlade for the last month and it seriously cuts all that scraping time in half.  The sides of the blades are made of flexible material, and scrape the sides, and bottom so I don’t have to turn the machine off and mix anything in by hand.  I love that it means I have one less spatula that I have to clean every time I’m baking something (there’s that shortcut for me again!).

If you need more information on the BeaterBlade, make sure you check out their website (I linked it at the top of the post).  They have been excellent people to work with and I’m happy to sing their praises.  Now, with all the extra time on my hands, I’m off to find something fun to do!

KitchenAid Flex Edge Beater: Baking Quick Tip Video

May 12, 2012 by Jenn

Ok . . . you know all about my love for my KitchenAid (times 3), but the one thing that causes me frustration when using them is the fact that I have to scrape the bowl 3449 times per batch of cupcakes.  Let me tell you, that’s a lot of scraping!

I’ve been dying to try the solves-all-scraping-problems” fix it tool KitchenAid’s “Flex Edge Beater” for a long time, but it has always gotten pushed to the side in my list of priorities as not important.  Well, for Christmas, I bought my mom her first KA Mixer and it came WITH the beater!  Whoop!  It was the perfect gift for both of us!  LOL does that sound selfish?  Uh, ya, a tiny bit.  My mom loves her KA and now that she has had it for a number of months, I decided now was the time to ask her to borrow the beater . . . and here’s my review of it.

So, the beater does decrease the number of scrapes you will need to make, but it is not a solves-all solution.  But, seriously, could there be?  Maybe the double flex edge . . . now I just have to find another person to buy a KA for this Christmas.
