Coming right around the corner is the day to celebrate the most important person in the world . . . our MOM’S!! My mom is a pretty amazing lady, and I have big things planned for her 🙂 Since she got her new iPad (so jealous) I think she might actually keep tabs on me, and read my blog, so I better not let anything out! She has Facebook now too. So with the times my mom is!!
Hunger Games Cupcakes- Mockingjay Pin
This summer, I read the Hunger Games Trilogy back to back and have been eagerly waiting for the release of the movies! Finally, the Hollywood moment is upon us, and shockingly, Cranbrook has the movie for the premier week! Woo hoo!
To celebrate one of the best young adult novel series to be released since Harry Potter, and Twilight, I am having a Hunger Games party!
Not.
I just wanted to seem like I had an excuse for making Hunger Game CUPCAKES!

How to fill/torte a cake with Chocolate Ganache
You know that delicious chocolately goodness that you often find in the centre of a great cake? Well, that is most likely a chocolate ganache! Ganache is a fancy word for filling . . . or icing . . . or glaze. Commonly, you will find it inside cakes, cupcakes, pastries, or you may recognize it as the “dripping” chocolate on Boston Creme cakes, or on Banana Splits!

How to Make Vanilla Cake with Chocolate Ganache, and Vanilla Buttercream- Vanilla Cake
This is the first post of a series of three on how to make your own homemade Vanilla Cake, filled with Chocolate Ganache, and topped with Vanilla Buttercream. Homemade Vanilla Cake from Scratch
Learning how to make a moist, delicious vanilla cake requires one specific thing . . . the right recipe! I have tried many of them throughout my life, and this one has come in handy on many occasions! Of course it’s not THE recipe I use for my cake company (JJ’s Custom Cakery in Cranbrook B.C. Canada) but it is a close second that guarded one!
Thomas the Tank Engine Cake
Thomas the Train, or Thomas the Tank Engine as I knew him to be called, is a popular toy with the little ones these days. I know this from Kindergarten of course!
How to Make Homemade Angel Food Cake from Scratch
Angel food cake has consistently been my favourite cake of all time. Sure, I have not been 100% loyal to it . . . I’ve had my love affairs with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cake, and Boston Creme Cake . . . but, I always come back to angel food cake! It is the ONE cake that I feel can be eaten without icing (*GASP*. . . NO ICING!?!? . . . or “frosting” for you non-Canadians), but it is equally delicious with a light whipping cream cover, or even better a whipping cream/yogurt covering!
I always requested angel food cake from my mom for my birthday cake, and now, I have discovered the BEST homemade recipe for Angel Food ever! You have to try it to see for yourself.
The best part about eating Angel Food Cake?? It is basically GUILT FREE! It is so low in calories, and fat that you can truely enjoy eating this cake . . .without feeling like you need to go to the gym for the next three hours!
St Patrick’s Day Cupcakes: How to Make Rainbow Cupcakes
What could be better than finding that pot of gold from under the rainbow? It would be just like winning the lottery and who doesn’t want to have THAT happen to them?!?!?!
These cupcakes are inspired by the magical mystery of rainbows that brighten a day, just by appearing in the sky. It sounds like I’m on a fabulous LSD trip or something, but since us teachers are back to work tomorrow, I assure you, there are no psychedelics inspiring this post!
