Today I am showing you how to make an Orange Crush Creamsicle Ice Cream Cake! It has layers of Orange Sherbet and Vanilla Ice Cream wrapped up in a chocolate bottle shell. So yummy and perfect for summer! We also uploaded Spaghetti Cupcakes this week, so make sure to check it out here.

With the viral success of our Coca Cola Bottle Cake, I received a ton of requests for another bottle cake. I’m getting a little bit bored of doing the pop themed treats, so I knew I had to do something totally different for this one. For some reason Orange Crush called my name, and when I think of orange desserts, creamsicle comes to mind! You guys often ask how I come up with my ideas, well now you know- complete randomness.
Creamsicle is one of those flavours that instantly transports me back to being a kid. Why don’t we eat popsicles as adults? They make life so much more enjoyable! I bought some creamsicles to taste test prior to making this video, and I swear, I was much happier for the 2 minutes it took to eat one. LOL. Even Paul agreed with me about the taste bringing him back- when he had a bite of the Orange Sherbet his response was “Tastes like being a kid!”. And if you know Paul, you know what he says is usually right.
Now we enter the debate of how to pronounce “sherbet”. Growing up, I was taught “sher-bert”. But when actually looking at the label and spelling on the Sherbet container, I realized there is no second “r” at the end of the word. Now if I was taking this to a dinner party, I wouldn’t care whether or not I was pronouncing it correctly, but since I’m sending the video out to millions of eyeballs (and listening ears) I wanted to have it correct, because if I was wrong, millions of people would point it out to me and that gets old really quickly. So I googled it, and sure enough, the pronunciation guide said “sher-bit”. WHAT? I’ve been mispronouncing this my whole life? Mom- how could you?!
Layering the ice cream requires the ice cream to soften a bit- which means you have to be patient! I hate being patient. When I get an idea, I want the idea done yesterday. You don’t have to let it soften, but it’s easier for making the distinctive layers and flat surface between them. Sherbet doesn’t soften the same way as the ice cream did, and became a bit more liquidy than the ice cream was, so just be careful not to over soften the sherbet.
As with the Coke bottle cake, you want to have enough layers of chocolate that when you start to remove the plastic bottle that acts as the mold, the bottle doesn’t break when you touch it. Trust me on that one- impatient and not putting enough layers of chocolate= broken bottle.
Basically the lesson today is that you shouldn’t listen to your mom, and don’t be impatient.
