As I said in a prior post, making fun Sesame Street birthday cakes are so much FUN! A couple of months ago it was Cookie Monster, and now, I’m doing Elmo!
This cake was a vanilla cake base, with vanilla buttercream. For this cake/cupcake set, I needed red, orange, black and white buttercream to complete the details of the monster! At the end of this post, I will put our YouTube video up on how to dye buttercream.
I used a round tip to fill in Elmo on the cake, and to pipe the ball like border. I outlined Elmo with a small round tip, and I really like how it stands out with the definition that it gives the image.
For the Elmo cupcakes, I used a grass tip to pipe Elmo, and various sizes of round tips for the rest of the face. They turned out so cute and our client was really happy with her order.
Happy Birthday, Brent!
I have a video up on YouTube for dying buttercream, so if you’re interested in learning how to do that (or checking your technique!) head on over to YouTube and have a look at the video! We film our videos in Cranbrook B.C. and are so happy to be doing so!
