There are many moments when I am reminded that I have a pretty amazing job but making a Candyland Cake is definitely up at the top of the reasons I love what I do. How lucky am I to be able to play with candy?! As a job! I also love the piping that this project required. I find it relaxing to pipe like what is required for the walls of this cake. If I’m using royal icing, I’m even happier since it’s so much easier to work with and so much easier to clean up than buttercream!

- Gingerbread Cookies (4 x 6″x6″, 4 x 3″x3″, Cupcake shaped door)

- Sugar cones
- Rainbow sprinkles
- Royal icing– pink, green, white

2. Insert 3 dowels into the larger cake, and place the smaller cake on top of the dowels. Cover the tops of the cakes with sprinkles.
3. Switching to working on the cake board, cut out squares of fondant and create the game pathway.
4. Using the gum drops, create Gum drop Mountains.
5. Using the lollipops, create lollipop forest.
6. Using the candy canes and peppermint pieces, create Peppermint Forest.
7. Use the licorice pieces to create Licorice Lagoon.
8. Use the peanut candies to create peanut acres.
9. Use the blue and white snowflake candies etc to create Ice Cream Sea area.
10. Use the royal icing to adhere the pieces to the board. To cover the areas without the candies, use the green royal icing fitted with a 233 tip.
11. Decorate the cupcake cookie for the door and attach to the front of the castle. Insert the lollipop into the top of the castle.
12. Slice and serve cake when desired. Cake is best kept in a sealed container in the fridge.
