Dipping these candy apples is so satisfying. Go in an apple, come out candied! Such is life in the CCC household. There’s a little candy everywhere.

Whenever you’re making candy, you’ll want to make sure that you have a proper candy thermometer. Mine has been on the fritz for a while, so I bought a new one (same brand same model) and I thought everything was fixed. Until the candy burned. If you’ve ever had that happen, you know how annoying it is. It stinks, it smokes, it’s hard to get rid of!

What needs to be addressed is clean up…it’s a real pain in the butt if you try to do it right away. The secret to cleaning up hard, cooked candy, is to fill the pot up with water and soap and let it sit. The candy will dissolve and no scrubbing is needed! I also tried boiling the pot with water in it, but the sit and wait method was better…and much more my style.

These look really nice and colorful, however, my concern is with the jolly rancher candy. In the video, the liquid appears to be very thick and when dried, looked thicker, Are these soft to bite into or should I worry about breaking a tooth? With the traditional red candied apple it seems to shatter, does this have the same effect?

The jolly rancher ones are super hard.
