Today I am showing you how to make Donut Ice Cream Cones! These are super easy to make, and delicious. I have three ways of showing you how to decorate these treats: traditional (trdelnÃk), chocolate dipped, and pink donut!

When I first saw these donut cones on Facebook, I knew I had to make them myself. Apparently they are quite popular in certain countries in Europe at markets and pop up stalls. The cone is made of a light, flaky dough, baked, coated in cinnamon sugar and then doused in Nutella. How could I possibly not make these in a tutorial!? They are all things delicious. I wanted to put a different spin on them as well so I did a chocolate dipped version, and a Homer Simpson version as well.
You can use homemade dough if you prefer, but since I’m always looking for the easy way to avoid working with yeast (LOL), I opted for Pillsbury’s croissant (crescent) dough. It gives the doughnut cone the perfect flakiness that it needs.
These cones would be awesome for a summer birthday party, especially a kids one. You could even set up a decorating station where the kids could decide how to make their cone themselves. It gets messy, so I’d definitely plan on an outside event, unless you enjoy cinnamon sugar, Nutella and chocolate all over your house. Oh, and ice cream.
Wrapping the cones up in an aluminum covered sugar cone gives the donut cone it’s shape. I tried a number of ways to wrap the dough, and found that the slightly rolled, rope like pieces, ended up with the best looking result. Make sure to spray your cone mold with lots of non-stick spray so you can easily pull it out once it has cooled slightly.
Donut Ice Cream Cones
Ingredients/Materials:

Traditional (trdelnÃk) Donut Cone:
1. Brush each cone with melted butter and sprinkle cinnamon sugar lightly over the butter.
2. Warm Nutella briefly in the microwave and coat the inside of the cone with it. Either dip, or brush Nutella onto the rim of the cone.
3. Fill donut cone with soft serve ice cream, sprinkles and more Nutella for garnish.
Chocolate Dipped Donut Cone:
1. Brush each cone with melted butter and sprinkle cinnamon sugar lightly over the butter.
2. Dip bottom and rim of cone in melting chocolate, and add sprinkles while chocolate is still soft.
3. Fill cone with cotton candy ice cream! Or your favourite flavour!
