Today I am showing you how to make a delicious savory cupcake! If you like pizza and you like cupcakes, you’ll love this Pizza Cupcake recipe I have come up with today. There is a surprise inside this stuffed pizza dough ball . . . delicious gooey mozzarella cheese! This pizza recipe is a super fast and easy meal (or treat) that will please everyone in your family for pizza and movie night!
I don’t usually do savory recipes but with the success of our Pizza Cake, the popularity of cupcakes and the deliciousness of pizza, I figured I’d give these Pizza Cupcakes a try. It was refreshing to work with something totally different, so when I tried making them in a bunch of different ways, Paul (and I) were willing guinea pigs! We’ve been having pizza cupcakes for dinner for weeks!
If you have a homemade pizza dough recipe that you want to use, definitely do that in place of the premade dough I used. I have yet to attempt pizza dough . . . or any bread to be honest . . . I’ve got to get that mastered soon. Also, if you have a homemade pizza sauce recipe, go ahead and use that too. This cupcake recipe is easy and fast, and by using premade dough and sauce, the time needed to make them is cut to under 5 minutes!
Not only are these cupcakes fast, they are really versatile too. I chose to go with the standard pepperoni pizza toppings, but you could customize them for whatever pizza flavour you love. My favourite pizza is Hawaiian and I have yet to try that combination of flavours, but I know it will be amazing!
Pizza Cupcakes
Ingredients
- Pizza dough
- Pizza sauce
- Mozzarella cheese sticks (cut into 1.5″ pieces)
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Grated mozzarella cheese
- Italian seasoning (spices)
- Mini pepperoni (or toppings of your choice)
Procedure:
- Preheat oven to 400F. Line cupcake pan with parchment wrappers (or regular cupcake wrappers).
- Roll out pizza dough and cut into 8 equal pieces.
- In the middle of each piece, place a dollop of pizza sauce, sprinkle of Italian seasoning, and a piece of cheese stick.
- Gather dough, and pinch seems together into a ball shape. Place dough ball with the seem side down in the wrappers.
- Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until dough is golden brown.
- Remove from oven, and spread on additional sauce, shredded mozza, pepperoni pieces, grated cheese and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning.
- Bake for 5 additional minutes, or until shredded cheese is melted.
- Allow to cool for 5 minutes, and enjoy while still warm. Cheese inside will be hot!
