Today we’re joined again by Gemma Stafford from Bigger Bolder Baking, and this time, we’re doing a fun video challenge putting together a Kracie Popin’ Cookin’ Donut kit!
What is Popin’ Cookin’ you ask? Well, even thought we’ve filmed the video, I still don’t really know. The link to their sets on Amazon says“DIY set for making donut candy, with donuts in 2 shapes, chocolate sauce, white and pink frosting and colourful sprinkles.” That clears it right up? Um, no.
Basically what Gemma and I were able to figure out is that you had to add water to the individual packets of powder that came in the kit, stir it up and then microwave the mixture (that smelt oddly authentic) for 15 seconds. After the short time in the microwave, it looked and smelt done, so we continued on from there opening packets. Some of the packets were a glaze or maybe an icing?? We may have put too much water in if it was supposed to be an icing.
On my channel we made the donuts, and over on Gemma’s channel we made the wedding cake. The chocolate donuts weren’t too bad. The texture is what made them weird, and not like a donut at all- chewier and not doughy. The vanilla donuts were not good at all! But, the grossest of the popin’ cookin’ candies was the wedding cake! The smell was horrid. I was terrified to eat it, because of the smell, but it ended up not being that bad comparatively.
Popin’ Cookin’ comes in a bunch of other varieties. You can also get sushi, and hamburger! I’m not brave enough to try those kind of flavours yet.
