Eggnog Gingerbread Trifle: No Bake Trifle Recipe

December 1, 2013 by Jenn

As a food YouTuber and blogger, I find myself trying to tell you how things taste when I post recipes.  It is actually very hard to do and trying recipes for taste is something that you have to do yourself.  What I like, might not be what you like (even though it should be) :).  With Christmas right around the corner, what I love for seasonal tastes are gingerbread, eggnog and sugar cookies.  So with this recipe for Eggnog Gingerbread trifle, I’m getting two of my favourites in one!  If you like either of these flavours, you’ll love this!  If you don’t like either, just make it anyway.

Eggnog Gingerbread Trifle

Eggnog Mousse
Ingredients:
1 large package instant vanilla pudding mix
3 ½ cup cold prepared eggnog (820mL)
1 small tub whipped topping

Gingerbread Trifle Recipe

Procedure:
1. Mix instant pudding mix and eggnog together, whisking for about 2 minutes
2. Let set in the refrigerator for about 5 minutes, or until set
3. Remove from the refrigerator & add in the tub of whipped topping, fold together until fully mixed
4. Place back into refrigerator to set until slightly firm

Eggnog Gingerbread Trifle

Gingerbread Streusel

Ingredients:
1 cup flour (120g)
1 cup brown sugar, packed (180g)
¼ cup butter, softened (60g)
1 ½ tablespoon ground ginger
1 ½ tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon water

Procedure:
Mix all ingredients together until crumbly.

Assembly:
You can use small trifle bowls, or one large one for this recipe.  You will want to layer the mousse and the streusel alternatively until your bowl(s) is filled.  Optional garnish include strawberries, gingerbread men and sprinkles.
