Phewf…I didn’t get hit by a bus! I was worried I might in my previous post (Fondant Rabbit Cupcake Toppers) , and not get this Easter post out to you!
In this video we demonstrate how to make a carrot from fondant or gum paste to use as cupcake toppers. Great for decorating cupcakes over the Easter holidays!
You will need:
Green fondant or gum paste
Orange fondant or gum paste
Gum glue, or water, or tylose glue
Scoring tool or toothpick or sharp instrument for making lines in the carrot
Cupcakes
Buttercream
Procedure:
Using the orange fondant, roll it into the shape of a carrot. Do do this you can start with a ball, and gradually work it into a log, and the by rolling only one end of the log, make it thicker at one end.
Using the scoring tool, or what you have on hand, mark the carrot with lines/veins/indentations.
Next up, roll out the green fondant flat, and cut out long triangle shapes to form the top of the carrot. Using the glue of your choice (see above) attach the green top to the orange bottom.
Allow the fondant to dry and apply to a buttercream topped cupcake!
Repeat as desired and enjoy!
Happy Baking!
