Last week, we were honoured to be asked to attend SNAP East Kootenay’s First Birthday Celebrations.
“SNAP East Kootenay is a FREE monthly print publication specializing in a “non-political” friendly and entertaining photographic view of living in our community. We cover everything including: home, business, birthday and surprise parties; sporting events; business openings, sales and events; festivals & concerts; people on the street; parades; carnivals; and general daily life. We also include an upcoming events calendar, cartoons, jokes & quotes, recipes and horoscopes.”
Basically, it is the monthly event that all us Cranbrookians wait excitedly for, knowing that there will be someone we know in the magazine . . . or even ourselves!
As SNAP has had a very successful first year in business, Janice (the publisher) wanted to put together an event that would showcase the magazine’s success and provide a night for guests to come and celebrate with her and her staff!
By inviting the local creme de la creme of the food scene, the guests were treated to an incredible feast of food! I know Paul sure enjoyed it . . . I, on the other hand didn’t get to sample anything as I was still feeling the after effects of the flu.
A section of the magazine is entitled “Taste of the Town”, and it is the monthly section where readers can read about and salivate over the local food that is available in the East Kootenay’s. Janice had the bright idea to make the birthday party a GIANT “Taste of the Town”.
Brenden came with Italian Sausage Stuffed Mushroom Caps! Absolutely drool worthy . . . goodness they looked so good! I love anything with mushrooms. Mushrooms is one of the those things you either hate or love! I am definitely a lover!
He also came with Fresh Tomato Bruschetta . . . fresh baguettes and tomatoes make for a perfect combination.
Heidi’s came with a number of different savoury treats for people to try as well, and the thing that I was most devestated not to be able to try . . . stuffed yorkshire pudding!
These delicious looking yorkies came stuffed with shaved roast beef, and horseradish sauce. O. M. G. I cannot wait to get to the restaurant to try these.
They also came with delicious looking salmon bites and cups of couscous!
Mr Mikes Steakhouse and Bar
Mr Mike’s was also at the party and they were handing out ‘Lil Mike Burgers, and Steak bites.
ABC Country Restaurant
ABC Country Restaurant’s contribution was perhaps the most obvious one that was exhibited on many mens’ faces throughout the evening . . . RIBS! I saw face after face going by with sauce all over . . . and smiles galore! They also brought dried ribs & pulled pork sandwiches! Mmmm, hearty home cooking!
As Cranbrook’s premier Cakery, we came with cupcakes of course!
Bringing our top flavours, and some brand new ones, we pleased the crowd looking for their “sweet” fix after all of the delicious savoury bites!
Abreast in the Rockies Dragon Boat Team
The Dragon Boat ladies were the most popular hosts . . . as they served the beer and wine! Abreast in the Rockies Dragon Boat Ladies Team members share their stories of illness and recovery, survival and empowerment to show there is life after breast cancer!
We had a fabulous time at this event, and we were so happy that Janice invited us to be a part of her special event. Congratulations to everyone for making it such a positive community experience!
