Recently, we had the privilege of attending the first ever Bridal Fair at the St Eugene Golf Resort and Casino. You have heard me sing the praises of this resort in previous posts, and if you want to read a rave review on their food (and beautiful photography), check out my friend Karen’s (of Toronto Girl West) post here. St Eugene is one of the most beautiful places and venues that the East Kootenay now has to offer.
The St. Eugene has recently built a new pavilion, and it can hold 350 guests for a reception and 500 if you’re having a concert . . . maybe Bon Jovi is your uncle, and you’re treating your guests to that instead! The pavilion features “vaulted ceiling peaks, chandeliers, gable window panels, and a dance floor.” It also features “a fully insulated liner, ceiling fans, and HVAC units for heating and air conditioning will ensure a comfortable atmosphere through every season.” When we were there, it was actually warm inside . . . not uncomfortably so . . . just right!
The Bridal Fair was held for a mere four hours (from 1:00pm -5:00pm) but with the amount of energy and excitement that the brides and their guests brought, we could have talked with them for HOURS! It was so much fun. We met an amazing amount of brides who are eagerly gathering information for their special day . . . and were lugging their bags stuffed full of prizes and pamphlets from the vendors . . . I don’t think anyone left empty handed! I was pleased to meet each of them and I am looking forward to working with many of them soon 🙂
We chose to showcase five of our wedding cakes, and I will be writing a follow up post on each of our wedding cakes so you can have a look at them in further detail.
Sponsoring the event was Tara’s Boutique . . . here are a collection of photos of some of the stunning dresses she has in her store for brides to try on.
Being in the wedding business, is like being in a great big family. We all come together a couple of times a year, meet each other occasionally at weddings, run into each other downtown while doing errands, and then head off in our own directions . . . until we meet again! We have met, so many talented people in the wedding industry and we are so fortunate for these friendships and partnerships.
I would like to send a special thank you to Robyn and Becky from MJ’s Floral design for showcasing one of our cakes on their table. Their cake flower topper is beautiful!
If you are a bride looking for beautiful arrangements and centerpieces, MJ’s Floral is definitely the place to go.
We also got to catch up with our friend Shauna, and her daughter Jasmine, from Fort Steele Heritage Town. Fort Steele was a gold rush boom town in the late 1890’s and if you want a horse drawn wagon ride up to the end of your wedding aisle, then give Shauna a call!
Also at the bridal fair was Michelle and Deb from the incredibly delicious, Sweet Gestures Chocolate Shoppe. They have become great friends of ours and we were happy to be so close to them . . . and their champagne mousse cup!
Michelle’s mom is a self taught sugar flower artist . . . and is the person responsible for ALL of these gum paste flowers:
And these . . .
YUM! Chocolate Torte! If you have never tried Sweet Gestures Chocolate Shoppe’s chocolate, you are in for a REAL treat. Just talking about their chocolate makes me want to drive down there for a lunch break chocolate treat!
The attention to detail is absolutely amazing. We are so happy to be working along with Michelle, Deb and the rest of their team.
Overall, the St Eugene Bridal Fair was a roaring success. I have heard lots of positive feedback from many of the vendors that were in attendance. We are already looking forward to next year’s!
Have you been to a bridal fair before?
