Hi Jen, wondering what brand and colour “purples” you use particularly in your amazing rainbow cakes, you always have this lovely bright purple when decorating, I have wilton violet, and americolor electric purple & violet, however, it always seems to greyish purple, frosting and cakes, maybe I’m not using enough.
My other thought was, here in Australia our butter is very yellow, and egg yolks are quite orange,
What do you think? Love to know your thoughts

Cotton candy only lasts for a few minutes when it’s on a cake. It slowly disintegrates.

Hello Jen: I am a big fan of your channel and I also live in Canada!
I have watched all of the food impostor videos. Could you do some more of those? Such as lasagna, sushi, burritos, etc that are actually made with candies or other sweets. [Or a cake in the shape of an airplane or other interesting object.]

As for challenges – I love watching you with Stephanie. I’d be super happy to see more challenges with the both of you. A few suggestions: gross soup challenge (such as the pizza and smoothie challenges only in soup form); another smoothie challenge with different ingredients; tin can challenge. As I said, I absolutely love the challenges!

Sorry for the overwhelming bunch of suggestions. I will definitely try out some of your interesting cakes one time.
Thank you for making this channel. You are a very talented baker.
Looking forward to possibly hearing from you!

Hey Jenn, I love your videos girl, you’re awesome!!!

My request is: Would you mind in making a Star Cake???

Kinda how I seen you do the leopard print cake, you put the design inside and on the outside of the cake. Well instead of leopard print can you do stars, or just one big star, or do both separately, or both together, any one of those would be awesome to see please, please, please, please!!!! It would really be really awesome to see you do a Star Cake.

And thank you in advance – Miranda

hi Jen. im a doctorate student in china but from ghana. ive always wanted to learn how to bake but never knew where to start so i went on you tube and searched for how to bake a cake and i came across your videos among others but what stood out for me was at the very begining the way you list your ingredients out making it so easy. so i got out a little book and a pencil and started writing and followed your vanilla cake recipe, then went to lemon then chocolate. i also learnt how to make the buttercream icing. invited some friends over and they loved the cakes. here in china its difficult to come across good cakes. most of them are sponge cakes. so was so grateful just to be able to do this. thanks for being a blessing to me and starting my little cake business here in the international students hostel. many of my friends come to me for cakes and i get a fee for it. n im so thankful to God that you are just here. i keep going to youtube just to see what you have for me. thanks again and stay blessed.

    Hey Jenn,

So I came across your channel sometime last year when I was bored to tears on a nightshift at work (I do security in Ontario). Anyways! They were good enough to eat…I wanted to lick the screen hehe.

Having said that, I tried out a few of your recipes – the chocolate mousse, the vanilla cake with choc ganache and vanilla buttercream icing among others I can’t remember right now. HOLY CRAP – they turned out SO good and everyone who has had some loved it and has been asking for more. So Thank you!!! You were the biggest reason I went out and got my kitchen aid mixer ๐Ÿ˜€

Looking forward to more of your amazing cakes, desserts etc. And soon… I shall get my hands on your book! I’m expecting a little girl in May, so not sure how much baking I will be getting done, but I still love watching your videos ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hugs from a fellow Canadian,

Your vanilla cake batter makes 4 cups and your vanilla buttercream makes 4 cups, correct? When you make your Tiger Cake, do you only use 4 cups of icing or do you make extra?

You can use 4 or 6 cups of batter for the Tiger cake. I used 6 in the tutorial to get a thicker cake for presentation purposes. But if you weren’t serving many people etc you could do with 4 cups.

Hi, and Happy Holidays. I’ve been watching your YouTube videos, starting with the Shopkins “wishes” cake. You are so talented and creative. I have always loved to cook but I was a horrible baker. I bake a mean Buttermilk pie, and “soc it to me cake”, but that’s it. So since I do those so well, I have been afraid to try different things. When you are cooking you can add and take away ingredients, but in baking you get what you get, and let’s face it fresh butter and eggs are costly. Anyway, I decided to start baking to help reduce stress, and now I’m hooked. I wish I could afford to quit my job and bake and cook for a living. I love the way food makes us feel and unifies us as people. Thanks so much for your videos, you have really inspired me. With that being said, I’m going to attempt the Shopkins “Wishes” cake for my daughter’s birthday. I need some tips. How do I keep the melted pink frosting on top to keep from getting into areas where I do not want it? Also how do you smooth the yellow buttercream on the 6″ inch tiers so perfectly? Do I wait until the tiers are chilled before decorating? What brand food color did you use for the pink and yellow icing? Anything else that would help thanks in advance.

Hi Kaiya, thanks so much for writing to me. I’ve never made buttermilk pie or a soc it to me cake…so you’re ahead of me in those regards! Baking is expensive, and it is something that takes practice. It took us years to be able to do it full time. Whenever trying a new technique, practice first. If you’re worried about the top icing running too far, practice first and learn how much to put on, and how to “coax” it over the sides. I use Americolor gel paste. I use a chilled cake, with a crumb coat, and then 2-3 layers of buttercream…then a hot knife to smooth it when I have it as smooth as I can get. I hope that helps!

    JENN!!!! PLEASE I NEED HELP!!!

    Hi!
I have recently found a great interest in baking and have bought a few things. I bought the wilton method of cake decorating “buttercream skills” course 1.
I t bring like 12 tips and a few piping bags. I also bought the book which has a few techniques and ideas. I also bought 2 circular cake pans and the wilton “trim and turn plus” (turn table)
This has all been very useful. However, i’m having some trouble making buttercream that’s stiff enough to make roses and other flowers. It always end’s up to thin. Any tips on a recipe or something else?
I absolutly LOVE!!! ur videos ur so creative!!!
    Please help me!!!
Also, i think a way you can get more subscribers is to perhaps do more give aways, and to win, you have to subscribe. (I WOULD LOVE TO WIN A GIVEAWAY!!!)

and sorry for writing so much…. but lastly do you think theres a way to make a DIT cake smoothened and a DIY cake leveller?
    thankyou!!

Hi if your butter cream is too thin it means too much butter was added but use butter straight from the fridge and 200g of icing sugar and 100g of butter then refrigerate before use and if to thick a little drop of milk until right consistency

    Hi Jen!
I absolutely LOVE your videos! I’ve baked since I was a kid but can sometimes lose motivation or just be clueless on what I want to try out next. Your videos really inspire me to get into the kitchen. Also, as a Canadian living in the UK for the last 10 years, hearing your voice and your “Canadisms” really make me smile and think of home. My suggestions for your bucket list would be beignets. I have only ever seen them on television, and in the Disney movie, The PrIncess and the Frog. I would love to see how they are made. Thanks a bunch!

Hi! I lived in London (only for a year) but I understand needing to hear other Canadians talk!! I’ve never tried a beignet! I’ll have to look it up. Thanks for watching!
