\" href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/tuamEz\" target=\"_blank\">Cupcakes and Cardio.<\/a>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><!--more--><\/div>\n<div>Making a <a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=6685\" target=\"_blank\">Rainbow Leopard Cake<\/a> and a <a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=4839\" target=\"_blank\">Pink Zebra Cake<\/a> was so much fun, so I wanted to do another animal print\u00a0themed cake. \u00a0Being that tigers are so beautiful, I wanted to tackle a tiger print cake. \u00a0This cake is easily adaptable for different colour themes- who says a tiger has to be orange and black, right? \u00a0Well, evolution does, but that&#8217;s not my point. \u00a0Hosting a tiger themed birthday party would be so much fun to put together and have this cake be the center piece. \u00a0It&#8217;s just perfect for it- or a jungle party, or a safari party or a zoo party or a wild animal party! \u00a0The possibilities are pretty much endless. \u00a0\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/DSC_0061site.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-7275\" title=\"Tiger Cake\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/DSC_0061site.jpg\" alt=\"Tiger Cake\" width=\"599\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/DSC_0061site.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/DSC_0061site-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>In decorating this cake I use a dry brush to get the look of the animal fur. \u00a0The brush strokes give the effect of the fur so that the black stripes look better integrated into the cake in this way. \u00a0Letting the base buttercream crust slightly (which it will do if you are using my homemade buttercream recipe) helps to prevent colour blend into the black stripes. \u00a0When initally blending the yellow and white buttercreams into the base orange, use a small offset spatula to carefully blend the edges of each colour into each of the layers. \u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Layering the colours for the surprise inside is simple, other than that when adding additional batter, make sure that you pour it directly on top of the previous colour. \u00a0The weight of the cake batter will cause the layers to spread out to the edges. \u00a0If you need to, tap the pan on the counter to help the spread along. \u00a0Tapping the pan will also help to remove any air bubbles that might be trapped from the addition of the various layers of colours. \u00a0\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong style=\"font-size: medium;\">Surprise Inside Tiger Cake\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Ingredients:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/XaNELscDtms\" target=\"_blank\">Vanilla Cake Batter<\/a> plain, orange and black\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/rjqOTM5icOE\" target=\"_blank\">Vanilla Buttercream<\/a>, orange, white, black, yellow\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Marshmallows (regular size)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/DSC_0104site.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-7276\" title=\"Tiger Stripe Cake\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/DSC_0104site.jpg\" alt=\"Tiger Stripe Cake\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/DSC_0104site.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/DSC_0104site-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Procedure:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 350F\/180C.\u00a0 Spray two 8&#8243; round cake pans with non-stick spray.<\/li>\n<li>In the center of each cake pan, place a 1\/4 cup of black cake batter.\u00a0 Place 1\/4 cup of orange batter directly on top of the black batter.\u00a0 Repeat with black, and then orange batter again.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Next add 1\/4 cup of plain batter and repeat with black and orange again.\u00a0 Add plain batter every third addition of orange and black.<\/li>\n<li>Bake in preheated oven for 35-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.\u00a0 Allow cakes to cool for 10 minutes in the pans before removing and placing onto a cooling rack.\u00a0 Allow to cool completely before leveling.<\/li>\n<li>Place one leveled cake layer slightly off center on a cake board, secure with a swipe of buttercream and cover top with orange buttercream.\u00a0 Place second layer on top of first, and cover entire cake in orange buttercream.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Apply to stripes of yellow buttercream across the top of the cake and blend into the orange buttercream with an offset spatula.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Add a single line of white buttercream down the center of the yellow buttercream and blend in.<\/li>\n<li>Apply thin lines of black buttercream from the white area outwards towards the edge of the cake.\u00a0 Use a dry paintbrush to spread the buttercream to give the effect of animal fur.\u00a0 Continue the black stripes down the sides of the cake.\u00a0 Keep the black lines thin near the white area, and wider the further it is from the white area.<\/li>\n<li>To make the tail, line the marshmallows up from the front to the back of the cake and attach to the cake board with a swipe of buttercream on each.\u00a0 Cover all of them in orange buttercream.\u00a0 Apply a yellow and white stripe of buttercream down the top of the tail, and smooth out with an offset spatula.<\/li>\n<li>Stripe the tail with a dry paintbrush as was done on the cake.<\/li>\n<li>Serve cake when desired. Cake is best kept in a sealed container in the fridge and consumed within 2-3 days.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a
