{"id":7137,"date":"2015-10-24T20:42:06","date_gmt":"2015-10-24T20:42:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.com\/?p=7137"},"modified":"2015-10-24T20:42:21","modified_gmt":"2015-10-24T20:42:21","slug":"floating-eyeballs-halloween-cake-with-bloody-witch-fingers-and-skeleton-bones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=7137","title":{"rendered":"Floating Eyeballs Halloween Cake- with Bloody Witch Fingers and Skeleton Bones"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>In this video tutorial we show you how to make a Halloween cake with floating eyeballs, witches fingers and skeleton bones. \u00a0I&#8217;m also giving you recipes and a tutorial for how to make the Witches fingers and the Skeleton Bones! \u00a0It&#8217;s like a three in one video!\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GSwyq2Do2Lc\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Subscribe to <a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/tuamEz\" target=\"_blank\">Cupcakes and Cardio<\/a>. \u00a0<br \/><!--more--><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>I wanted to do another fun Halloween cake for you guys before the holiday was over! \u00a0Since I grossed you out last week with my <a title=\"Bloody Jello Brain Cake \" href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=7110\" target=\"_blank\">Bloody Jello Brain Cake<\/a>, I thought I&#8217;d go easy and make this one a little bit more cute than gory. \u00a0I couldn&#8217;t leave the gore out totally though, it is Halloween after all, but I tried to keep it to a minimum with the bloody witch fingers . . . and the skeleton bones . . . and the floating eye balls. \u00a0Well, ok, I guess there&#8217;s just less blood than the Brain Cake.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I thought about making separate tutorials for the bones and fingers tutorials, but figured they weren&#8217;t challenging enough to put them into their own video, so you&#8217;re getting a couple of bonus ideas in order to be able to complete this cake the way I have. \u00a0As always though, you can make it however you please. \u00a0I love seeing the personal touches so many of you put on cakes! \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Skeleton Bones<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>White chocolate (melted)<\/li>\n<li>Pretzel sticks<\/li>\n<li>Mini marshmallows<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Procedure:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Dip ends of pretzel stick into mini marshmallows and set aside to harden on a piece of parchment paper or silicone mat.\u00a0 Repeat for 25-30 bones.<\/li>\n<li>Drop pretzels and marshmallow bones into the melted chocolate, and using a fork or chocolate tool, remove the bone from the white chocolate. Set aside to harden and repeat until all bones are covered in chocolate.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Once hardened, remove excess chocolate with a sharp knife.<\/li>\n<li>Place onto cake as Fingers<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Light green candy melts<\/li>\n<li>Pretzel rods<\/li>\n<li>Whole almonds (blanched)<\/li>\n<li>Red piping gel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Procedure:<\/p>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Melt chocolate and place some in a piping bag, and some in a tall narrow container.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Using the chocolate in the piping bag, pipe a layer of chocolate where the witches knuckles would be.\u00a0 Allow to harden.<\/li>\n<li>Once knuckles are hardened, dip pretzel rod into the melted chocolate in the tall container.\u00a0 Let excess chocolate drip off, and then press an almond onto the top of the of the pretzel for the finger nail.\u00a0\u00a0 Allow to harden on a piece of parchment paper or silicone mat.\u00a0 Repeat for 10-15 fingers.<\/li>\n<li>Once candy melts have hardened, score knuckles for wrinkles with a sharp knife.\u00a0 Brush cut chocolate off with a small paint brush.\u00a0 Accent the wrinkles with red piping gel, and also draw the piping gel around the base of the nail, and up onto the cuticles.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>\u00a0<a \/>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Black <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/rjqOTM5icOE\" target=\"_blank\">Buttercream<\/a>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Prepared <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/XaNELscDtms\" target=\"_blank\">vanilla cake batter<\/a> coloured green, orange, white and purple, in piping bags \u00a0<\/li>\n<li><a href=\" https:\/\/youtu.be\/UFW59OLLoDc\" target=\"_blank\">Chocolate ganache<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Gum balls eye balls<\/li>\n<li>Gummy eye balls<\/li>\n<li>Bloody witch fingers<\/li>\n<li>Skeleton bones<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Procedure:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Prepare witch fingers and skeleton bones.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat oven to 350F\/180C.\u00a0 Grease two 8&#8243; round cake pans.<\/li>\n<li>Squeeze cake batters from piping bags into the cake pans, evenly dividing the colours between the two pans.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 30-35 minutes or until cake is golden brown and baked through.\u00a0 Allow cake to cool completely on wire racks.<\/li>\n<li>Once the cakes have cooled, place one leveled half on a cake board or plate, and cover with black buttercream.\u00a0 Place second half on top, and cover entire cake in black buttercream.<\/li>\n<li>Pour ganache on top of the cake and work towards the edges with an offset spatula, being careful not to push the ganache over the edges.<\/li>\n<li>Place eyeballs into ganache and press down so that they look like they are floating.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Alternate bones and fingers around the outside of the cake.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>You can store the cake for 2-3 days in a sealed container in the fridge.
