{"id":6850,"date":"2015-08-20T19:58:21","date_gmt":"2015-08-20T19:58:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.com\/?p=6850"},"modified":"2015-08-20T20:23:15","modified_gmt":"2015-08-20T20:23:15","slug":"how-to-make-donuts-two-ways-baked-doughnuts-and-fried-doughnuts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=6850","title":{"rendered":"How to Make Donuts Two Ways: Baked Doughnuts and Fried Doughnuts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">\u00a0Baking with Paityn is always lots of fun. \u00a0She first came on our show when she was 10, and now, 3 years later, she&#8217;s a wonderful teenager. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TeiNNZ8tfT8\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Making homemade donuts is surprisingly easy- if you cheat with the fried way that is. \u00a0I could have messed around with a homemade donut recipe that would fry up nicely for you, but then I would have had to have used yeast. \u00a0Anyone who reads this blog knows I&#8217;m scared of yeast. \u00a0I failed at using once as a kid while learning to bake, and I&#8217;ve been scared to use it ever since!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6957site.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-6874\" title=\"How to Make Donuts\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6957site.jpg\" alt=\"How to Make Donuts\" width=\"599\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6957site.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6957site-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Homemade Baked Donuts<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1 1\/3 cup all purpose flour, sifted<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">2 teaspoons baking powder<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1\/4 teaspoon salt<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1 large egg<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1\/2 cup granulated sugar<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">3\/4 cup whole milk<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">3 tablespoons vegetable oil<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">2 teaspoons vanilla extract<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Procedure:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F and grease donut pan.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In a small bowl, mix together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In a medium bowl, whisk together egg and sugar. Then add milk, oil, and vanilla extract; mixing until well combined. Gently stir in the flour mixture, whisking until there are no lumps.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Carefully fill each donut indention 3\/4 full. \u00a0Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the donut comes out clean. Place donuts on a cooling rack and cool completely.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Prepare glaze if desired (see below)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6877site.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-6875\" title=\"Donuts with Paityn\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6877site.jpg\" alt=\"Donuts with Paityn\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6877site.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6877site-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Donut Glaze<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1\/2 cup butter (melted)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1\/4 cup milk<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1 tablespoon light corn syrup<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">2 teaspoons vanilla extract<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">2 1\/2 cups icing sugar<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Procedure:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In a small bowl whisk together melted butter, milk, corn syrup and vanilla extract. Add icing sugar, whisking until smooth.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Dip the top of each donut into the icing and transfer to a wire rack and let set for 5 minutes. Serve immediately, or donuts can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days, but are best served fresh.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6999title.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-6876\" title=\"Homemade Donuts\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6999title-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Homemade Donuts\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6999title-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6999title-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6999title.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Easy Fried Donuts<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Prepared Biscuit dough (Pillsbury)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Vegetable Oil (for frying)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Procedure:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Heat oil over medium heat in a saucepan until 325F.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Cover a cooling rack with paper towel.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Open biscuit dough and combine 2 biscuit sections together to form one.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Roll dough gently into a disc and cut out a small round circle from the center. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When oil is heated, gently place donut (and holes) into the oil. \u00a0Cook for 60 seconds on one side, then turn. \u00a0Cook for 45 seconds on the second size. Remove from oil and place on paper towel. \u00a0Repeat for remaining donuts. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Prepare glaze if desired. \u00a0Dip the top of each donut into the icing and transfer to a wire rack and let set for 5 minutes.
