Cherry Pie Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Until our videos last fall (2013) \u00a0I had never baked a real pie before. \u00a0Sure, I had used a premade pie crust, and premade filling, and called it a pie, but looking back, it really wasn&#8217;t. \u00a0My adventures last year with <a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=4282\" target=\"_blank\">Apple Pie<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=4300\" target=\"_blank\">Pumpkin Pie<\/a> had given me the courage to knead more dough and attempt a cherry pie! \u00a0You can find the pie crust recipe in the Apple Pie video. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The thing about cherry pie is that I don&#8217;t (well, didn&#8217;t) even like it! \u00a0I don&#8217;t know what came over me when I decided that cherry would be the flavour I would go with this fall. \u00a0What I soon learned though, is that I had never had <em>good<\/em> cherry pie. \u00a0Oh, man, when I had my first bite of this pie, I was in love. \u00a0I find that artificial cherry flavour is one of the worst flavours there are- it brings be back to cough syrup as a kid (and that is not a good thing). \u00a0Using real cherries for this recipe is a must in my opinion. \u00a0If you&#8217;re stuck you can use canned cherries in a pinch. but I take no blame for pies made with canned cherries! \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The sweetness and tartness of cherries can very greatly, so with this recipe, you can adjust the amounts of lemon juice and sugar accordingly. \u00a0If your cherries are really ripe and sweet, lessen the amount of sugar. \u00a0If your cherries are sour, lessen the amount of lemon juice, or add additional sugar. \u00a0The recipe is pretty flexible that way. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" Pie<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>4 cups pitted, whole cherries<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 cups granulated sugar<\/li>\n<li>6 tablespoons cornstarch<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup water<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup lemon juice\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=4282\" target=\"_blank\">prepared pie dough<\/a> (enough for a top and bottom)\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>melted butter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_7432site.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-5672\" title=\"Homemade Cherry Pie Recipe\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_7432site.jpg\" alt=\"Homemade Cherry Pie Recipe\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><strong>Procedure<\/strong>:<\/div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 375F. \u00a0Grease 9&#8243; pie plate.<\/li>\n<li>In a medium bowl, whisk sugar, cornstarch, water, lemon juice together. \u00a0Pour over cherries, and stir to coat the cherries.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Prepare pie dough, divide dough into two equal amounts and roll out the amount for the bottom layer. \u00a0Place into prepared pie plate.<\/li>\n<li>Fill pie plate with cherry filling.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Roll out pastry for the top of the pie. \u00a0If desired, use a cherry cutter to cut out shapes from the pastry. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Brush on melted butter along the rim of the pie, to ensure the top layer of pastry will adhere to the bottom layer.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Transfer pastry to cover the pie evenly ad press top layer onto the bottom layer where the butter was brushed. \u00a0You can use a fork to seal the edges as well.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Brush the top of the pie with melted butter to help with browning of the crust.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Bake until filling is firm, approximately 70-90 minutes. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Allow to cool before slicing and serving. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_7438site.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone
