{"id":2396,"date":"2012-01-05T06:27:57","date_gmt":"2012-01-05T06:27:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.com\/?p=2396"},"modified":"2012-01-05T06:27:57","modified_gmt":"2012-01-05T06:27:57","slug":"new-years-2012-goals-and-resolutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=2396","title":{"rendered":"New Years 2012- Goals and Resolutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last year (2011), I made <a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=452\" target=\"_blank\">resolutions<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=711\" target=\"_blank\">goals<\/a> for the very first time!\u00a0 It&#8217;s time to review, and to make new ones . . . maybe?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">2011 Check In &#8211; Resolutions &#8211;<\/span><\/strong> <span style=\"color: #d87093;\"><strong>How did I do?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0Learn how to <strong>budget<\/strong> . . . stick to in . . . and stop spending money on unnecessary things.\u00a0 <em><span style=\"color: #d87093;\">I&#8217;m definitely better at this than I used to be, I would have to say!\u00a0 Not perfect, as the draw of going to Winners on a Friday night is sometimes to strong to resist, but I came leaps and bounds compared to where I used to be.\u00a0 Like, now, I actually have money in my back account!\u00a0 That&#8217;s what it&#8217;s there for I&#8217;m learning!<\/span><\/em><strong><em><br \/><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2. I\u2019m giving up <strong>magazines<\/strong>. \u00a0I find that they used to be an enjoyable event, to what is now a stressful occurrence. \u00a0When I look at the pile that just seems to grow and grow and grow, I get stressed out. \u00a0I guess I\u2019m spending my time doing different activities these days . . . like blogging!!<em>\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #d87093;\">I have DEFINITELY succeeded at this resolution! I did not spend unnecessary time, or money reading magazines . . . and truthfully, I didn&#8217;t really miss them!\u00a0 I never would have thought that I wouldn&#8217;t miss them, as I lived and breathed for the new issue of my favourites to come out. \u00a0<\/span><\/em> \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">2011 Check In &#8211; Goals<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; <strong><span style=\"color: #d87093;\">How did I do?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">1. I am not going to <strong>gossip<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #d87093;\"><em>Oops.\u00a0 Pretty sure I did . . . at least once that I can think of, off the top of my head . . . this morning.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">2. I am going to read (at least) one <strong>book<\/strong> a month.\u00a0 <em><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #d87093;\">I should have added . . . &#8220;if I don&#8217;t start a business&#8221;.\u00a0 Little did I know!\u00a0 I have read . . . a book this year.\u00a0 Actually, I think I read at least 4.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">3. I need to learn to let go of things that I have no <strong>control<\/strong> over. <em>Water off a duck\u2019s back . . . <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #d87093;\">Hmm.\u00a0 This one is a hard one.\u00a0 I&#8217;m trying hard not to obsess about other people&#8217;s opinions, but it&#8217;s so hard!\u00a0<\/span> <br \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">4. I am going to train to <strong>run<\/strong> a distance &gt; 10k.\u00a0 <em><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #d87093;\">Nope.<\/span><\/em> <span style=\"color: #d87093;\"><em>My excuse for this one will be gallbladder surgery.\u00a0 I&#8217;m really good at excuses!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">5. I am going to learn to be more <strong>forgiving<\/strong> and <strong>patient<\/strong> with others. \u00a0They are not me, I am not them.\u00a0 <em><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #d87093;\">Nope. Definitely haven&#8217;t master this goal yet!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">6. I am going to learn how to work on\u00a0Cookies, Cupcakes and Cardio while balancing my full time <strong>teaching<\/strong> job.\u00a0 <em><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #d87093;\">And cake business and instructing spinning!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">7. I am going to stick with a <strong>gym<\/strong> routine that works for me. M\/W\/F 6:00am+ spinning = gym routine!\u00a0<em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #d87093;\">Continued spinning Wednesday mornings at 6:00, but the Monday and Friday of this goal fell through!<\/span> <br \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">8. I am going to learn to be less <strong>selfish<\/strong>. \u00a0This one is going to be difficult as I\u2019ve been working this way for 32 years!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #d87093;\">Ask Paul.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">9. \u00a0I am going to learn to work my Sony Alpha 200 DSLR <strong>camera<\/strong> and take (amazing) food pictures.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #d87093;\">I improved from where I was a year ago, but I&#8217;m definitely not taking great food pictures yet.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">10. I am going to learn how to decorate beautiful <strong>cakes<\/strong>.\u00a0 <em><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #d87093;\">YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">11. I am going to learn to accept <strong>criticism<\/strong>. \u00a0Without hating the other person.\u00a0 <em><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #d87093;\">Why are #3, #5 and #11, so much alike?\u00a0 Might I have a problem dealing with other people?<\/span><\/em> <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Where I was a year ago, seems like so long ago.\u00a0 I had no idea what 2011 had in store for me, and it took me to a place where, I may have failed on my goals for 2011, but I have succeeded in so many other areas.\u00a0 I had NO IDEA that starting a cake business, and buying a house was in the cards for me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Even though I did so &#8220;poorly&#8221; on 2011 Goals, I&#8217;m going to make them again for 2012.\u00a0 I like the look back that it gives the following year . . . it&#8217;s interesting to see where I have come from and what was important a year ago.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">12 Goals for 2012<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">1. Cook dinner once a week.\u00a0 It&#8217;s too easy just to grab something when you&#8217;re busy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">2. I am going to read (at least) one <strong>book<\/strong> every two months.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">3.\u00a0 To excercise with Paul<strong> (hike, bike, snowshoe, ski)<\/strong> every Sunday.\u00a0 It&#8217;s our only day a week to relax.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">4. I am going to train to <strong>run<\/strong> a distance &gt; 5k.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">5. Pay off my remaining Student Loan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">6. Pay down my Line of Credit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">7. Be more organized!\u00a0 Or Paul will move out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">8. Work at being more healthy (food, weight, exercise)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">9.\u00a0 To do more Cardio blog posts and YouTube videso<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">10. Continue to learn how to decorate beautiful <strong>cakes, <\/strong>and find inspiration to make my own designs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">11. Stay out of the Staff Room at work! There is too much noise and gossip in there.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">12.
