I love movies.<\/p>\n

I love rom-coms. \u00a0I love dramas. \u00a0I love action.<\/p>\n

I don’t love sci-fi.<\/p>\n

I love popcorn.<\/p>\n

It sounds like I’m one of my Kindergartener’s writing a poem! \u00a0I think that means I should stop. \u00a0I hope you get the idea.<\/p>\n

When a friend of mine asked me to make a birthday cake for her daughter’s 12th birthday, she happened to mention that I would need to drop the cake off at a restaurant after the movie. \u00a0Movie? \u00a0I had JUST<\/strong> the idea!<\/p>\n

I used to go to the movies all the time . . . it was one of my favourite pastimes in University. \u00a0I love the smell of the butter and the huge lazy boy type chairs that the super theatres now have (not that we have one of those in Cranbrook!) \u00a0I just don’t seem to have much time to go to movies these days. \u00a0Also, it doesn’t seem like there are many quality movies making their way to the local theatre.<\/p>\n

To go with the bad habit <\/strong>of filling up on a big bag of popcorn, I had was always falling asleep once the movie started!<\/p>\n

I blame the dark.<\/p>\n

My friends developed the “helpful” habit of elbowing me to wake me up. \u00a0Thanks.<\/p>\n

What else goes with popcorn<\/strong>, and a nap<\/strong> at the movies? \u00a0Candy of course! \u00a0To go with this cake, I went searching the aisles of the movie theatre . . . Mike n Ike’s, MnM’s,and \u00a0chocolate covered caramels.<\/p>\n

These popcorn tubs were so fun to make! \u00a0I got the idea for Hello Cupcake<\/em>, and had seen it months ago. \u00a0I was so excited to finally get to make this cute addition for a cake.<\/p>\n

How to Make Marshmallow Popcorn:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

You will need one bag of white mini marshmallows, and one bag of multi coloured flavoured marshmallows. \u00a0Separate out all of the yellow marshmallows. \u00a0You will be making around 200 kernels of popcorn! \u00a0 Take one marshmallow and cut it into three pieces. \u00a0These become the “petals” of the popcorn. \u00a0Put a dot of icing on the bottom a whole marshmallow, and attach the three pieces of cut marshmallow to the whole one. \u00a0That’s it! \u00a0Super easy, but time consuming. \u00a0Make sure you have a good movie to turn on \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 Edited to add: <\/em><\/strong>Thanks Paul for putting together so many of the popcorn pieces together.\u00a0 You’re the greatest helper. <\/em><\/p>\n

The cake is chocolate with chocolate buttercream, and the cupcakes were vanilla with salted caramel buttercream, and vanilla with vanilla buttercream.<\/p>\n

I LOVED making this cake. \u00a0It was so much fun.<\/p>\n
