{"id":6981,"date":"2015-09-15T16:11:33","date_gmt":"2015-09-15T16:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.com\/?p=6981"},"modified":"2016-03-05T06:30:21","modified_gmt":"2016-03-05T06:30:21","slug":"shopkins-cake-how-to-make-shopkins-wishes-birthday-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=6981","title":{"rendered":"Shopkins Cake- How to make Shopkins &#8220;Wishes&#8221; Birthday Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>In this tutorial I show you how to make the popular children&#8217;s toy birthday cake named &#8220;Wishes&#8221; from Shopkins! \u00a0Wishes is the adorable cake shaped character from Season 1 and is ultra rare. \u00a0She&#8217;s really easy to make as a cake if you follow my tutorial!\u00a0<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GY9CDRDU43w\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div><!--more--><\/div>\n<div>Subscribe to my YouTube channel\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/tuamEz\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>! \u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Shopkins are the cutest things that I&#8217;ve ever laid eyes on. \u00a0How could these mini\u00a0characters not tease you to collect, trade and share them? \u00a0<em>Each Shopkins character has a name, hobby, hang out and BFF, intended to create an emotional bond for the collector<\/em> (Wikipedia)<em>. \u00a0<\/em>Wishes&#8217; favourite hobby is singing, her BFF is Soda Pops, and she likes to hang out in the party aisle.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Making this cake is very straight forward. \u00a0You don&#8217;t need any tricks up your sleeve to make Wishes. \u00a0My favourite part is the melted buttercream top. \u00a0I&#8217;ve tried in the past to make a dripping-like icing top with fondant, and didn&#8217;t really like it. \u00a0So thinking of the technique I used in my <a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=6252\" target=\"_blank\">Melted Candle Rainbow Cake<\/a>, I knew that I could melt the buttercream, then pour it on top of the cake, and gently work it over the edge for the dripping appearance. \u00a0\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The actual Shopkins toy is considered &#8220;Ultra Rare&#8221; and is difficult to find. \u00a0If you happen to have one, consider yourself lucky! \u00a0I searched all over town to find a real life example of Wishes. \u00a0They are apparently sold at Target (but we don&#8217;t have that anymore obviously), and WalMart, but there were no Shopkin&#8217;s found there. \u00a0I ended up finding some sets of the toys in the local mall, in a store like an &#8220;As Seen On TV&#8221; store, but no Wishes.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DSC_7325site.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-6986\" title=\"Shopkins Cake\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DSC_7325site.jpg\" alt=\"Shopkins Cake\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DSC_7325site.jpg 800w, http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DSC_7325site-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Shopkins Cake- How to make Shopkins &#8220;Wishes&#8221; Birthday Cake<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0Ingredients:\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>6&#8243; round cake covered in yellow buttercream<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=2696\" target=\"_blank\">White buttercream<\/a> fitted with number 4\/5\/or 6 tip<\/li>\n<li>Black buttercream fitted with number\u00a04\/5\/or 6\u00a0tip<\/li>\n<li>Pink buttercream fitted with number\u00a04\/5\/or 6\u00a0tip<\/li>\n<li>Yellow buttercream fitted with number 10 tip<\/li>\n<li>Yellow buttercream fitted with 1A tip<\/li>\n<li>Blue &#8220;Mike And Ike&#8217;s&#8221; candies\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>1 cup pink buttercream\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Yellow candles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DSC_7325site2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-6987\" title=\"Shopkins Birthday Cake\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DSC_7325site2.jpg\" alt=\"Shopkins Birthday Cake\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DSC_7325site2.jpg 800w, http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DSC_7325site2-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div>Procedure:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Prepare and cover cake in yellow buttercream.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Measure 2.5&#8243; from the bottom of the cake, up the side and mark with a toothpick. Repeat all around the cake.\u00a0 Join marks with a line.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>With the white buttercream, pipe a rope border around the cake at the 2.5&#8243; line by piping upside down &#8220;C&#8217;s&#8221;.\u00a0 Repeat all the way around the cake.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Using a small round cutter, press a half circle into the cake, for the eyes\u00a0(or freehand it). Trace line with\u00a0black buttercream.\u00a0 Add one eyelash at the end of the eye line. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Using the pink buttercream with a 4\/5\/6 tip, pipe on a nose, and mouth.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Place 1 cup of pink buttercream into a microwavable safe bowl and cook in 15 second intervals until melted. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Pour melted buttercream onto the top of the cake, and gently push small amounts of the icing over side of the cake.<\/li>\n<li>Using the yellow buttercream with the number 10 tip, pipe small cupcake topping like swirls around the outer edge of the top of the cake (6-8 of them).\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Place blue Mike and Ike&#8217;s on the top of the cake for sprinkles.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Place candles in cake prior to serving.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Store the cake in a sealed container in the fridge and it is best consumed within 2-3 days.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Subscribe to my YouTube channel\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/tuamEz\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>!
