the reason for that being that I got to make it with my adorable niece, Elsa!\u00a0 We have been inundated with requests for a Frozen themed cake since the movie came out, but I HAD to wait for Elsa to come and make it with me.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t do it without her as it&#8217;s her favourite movie, and Disney clearly named their main character after her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC_5610blog.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-5427\" title=\"Frozen Cake with Elsa\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC_5610blog.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC_5610blog.jpg 800w, http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC_5610blog-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Elsa is three years old, and she stood on a tiny stool for over an hour while we put this cake together.\u00a0 She was patient, helpful and did an amazing job for any child, never-mind one that is only three!\u00a0 She loved clapping along with me to sync our mics, and when the time came to decorate, or follow instructions, she was right on and eager to do it!\u00a0 Being that my brother and his family live in Minnesota, I don&#8217;t get to see them often.\u00a0 I can sure tell that he and my sister-in-law have done an amazing job raising two lovely children.\u00a0 It was such an honor to be able to put this cake together.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To make this cake, you have to learn how to make candy.\u00a0 It&#8217;s really simple, despite the fact that you need to use boiling hot, liquid sugar!!\u00a0 Follow my previous post and video tutorial on how to do that <a title=\"How to make lollipops and hard candy\" href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=5386\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t make a video of a Frozen cake without commenting on what a great movie Frozen is.\u00a0 Disney did a great job with appealing to the masses, and the ages.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not one to watch Disney, or cartoons much anymore, but with this movie, I loved it so much that I bought it.\u00a0 I loved everything about it, and sang along with each song.\u00a0 Call me crazy.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll let it go.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Uumr8m89PGE\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Frozen Cake with Elsa<br \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>6&#8243;, 8&#8243; round two layer cakes<\/li>\n<li>White <a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=2696\" target=\"_blank\">buttercream<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Three sugar cones<\/li>\n<li>One ice cream cone<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=5386\" target=\"_blank\">Hard candy<\/a> (shaped in long rectangle pieces, with angled tops)\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Clear sanding sugar<\/li>\n<li>Snowflake sprinkles<\/li>\n<li>Small Frozen plastic characters (I found mine on Amazon)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC_5759blog.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5428\" title=\"Frozen Cake\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC_5759blog.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC_5759blog.jpg 600w, http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC_5759blog-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong>Procedure<\/strong>:<\/div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Bake, ice and prepare 6&#8243; and 8&#8243; cakes. \u00a0Stack cakes on top of each other, lining up the 6&#8243; cake to be at the back of the 8&#8243; cake. \u00a0Use a small amount of buttercream in between the layers to help them stick together.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Place a small amount of buttercream towards the back of the top of the 6&#8243; cake, and place the regular ice cream cone in the centre, with 2 of the sugar cones on either side of it, pointy side up. \u00a0Place the third cone on top of the regular cone, pointy side up.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Using a sharp knife, draw a concave line, following the curve of the cones, and cut out a concave portion of the cake, and remove it.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Cover the concave portion, cake board, and cone structure in white icing.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Using a sharp serrated knife, cut the hard candy into shaped pieces for the ice castle. \u00a0I found this to be easiest by cutting gently, and laying the pieces out separate from each other, as they tend to stick to each other. \u00a0I cut 7 pieces for the background of the castle, and 4-6 pieces for the front of the castle.
