wafers with birthday cake cream filling.\u00a0 The list of Oreo flavours goes on and on!\u00a0 I wish we could get all of the flavours in Canada- actually, strike that, no I don&#8217;t, as then I would eat them!\u00a0\u00a0 I found the Gingerbread Oreo&#8217;s on the shelf at Target this passed Christmas and they were so good!\u00a0 Paul hated them, so it worked out well for me.\u00a0 If you&#8217;ve been following me for a while, you will know that the Birthday Cake Oreo&#8217;s are my favourite!\u00a0 It&#8217;s the sprinkles.<\/p>\n<p>Thinking up ways to make amazing cakes is my favourite part of being a baker.\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been wanting to make a Cookies &#8216;n Cream\/Oreo cake for a while now and I was set on making it overflowing with cookies!\u00a0 My favourite part of an Oreo is the filling, so I knew that I wanted to make a creamy filling for the cake, but I wanted it to be light and fluffy as opposed to heavy like the cookie version.<\/p>\n<p>The cake has three layers to it, two chocolate, and one vanilla, and each has chopped up Oreo&#8217;s floating around the batter.\u00a0 When the cookies bake, they soften up, so if you are worried about the cakes being crunchy, you can relax.\u00a0 No broken teeth will be had.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hNTsidPjynA\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>If you make this and take it to a party, you will be asked to bring it again, and again.\u00a0 So be warned.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Oreo Cake<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">For the Chocolate Cake:<\/span><br \/><em>(will make two 8&#8243;\/9&#8243; cakes)<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 3\/4 cups all purpose flour (210 g)<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 cup cocoa (75 g)<\/li>\n<li>2 cups granulated sugar (400 g)<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoon baking soda (10 mL)<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon baking powder (5 mL)<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon salt (5mL)<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1 cup buttermilk (240 mL)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup vegetable oil (120 mL)<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons vanilla extract (10 mL)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2\u00a0 cup hot water (120 mL)<\/li>\n<li>20 quartered Oreos<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a cake)<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 1\/2 cups all purpose flour (180 g)<\/li>\n<li>1 cup granulated sugar (200 g)<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons baking powder (10 mL)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon salt (2.5 mL)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup butter, chopped into 1&#8243; cubes (113 g)<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup milk (120 mL)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (2.5 mL)<\/li>\n<li>10 quartered Oreos<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">For the Oreo Filling:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>8 ounces softened cream cheese (230 g)<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon vanilla (5 mL)<\/li>\n<li>2 cups icing sugar (200 g)<\/li>\n<li>2 cups whipping cream (heavy cream) (480 mL)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Garnish:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>crumbled Oreos (about 10)<\/li>\n<li>Halved Oreos<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=2690\" target=\"_blank\">Chocolate Ganache<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Ateco Tip 827<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Procedure:<\/span><br \/>Preheat oven to 350F and grease cake pans.<\/p>\n<p><a 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Chocolate cake:<\/span><br \/>In a stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, salt and mix until combined.\u00a0 Add the two eggs and mix.\u00a0 While the mixer is beating, slowly add the buttermilk, oil and vanilla.\u00a0 Ensure that water is hot, and add water slowly.\u00a0 Once batter is combined, add quartered Oreo&#8217;s and mix a couple of times, being careful not to break up the Oreo&#8217;s.\u00a0 Divide the batter into two equal portions in prepared cake pans and bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.\u00a0 Allow to sit on a cooling rack before removing from pan and allow to cool completely.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Vanilla cake:<\/span><br \/>In a stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt and mix until combined.\u00a0 While mixer is turning, add cubes of butter one at a time and mix until the butter has broken up into tiny pieces and the mixture resembles sand.\u00a0 Add eggs and continue to mix.\u00a0 While mixer is turning, slowly add milk and vanilla.\u00a0 Mix until batter is smooth.\u00a0 Once batter is combined, add quartered Oreo&#8217;s and mix a couple of times, being careful not to break up the Oreo&#8217;s.\u00a0 Pour batter into prepared cake pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.\u00a0\u00a0 Allow to sit on a cooling rack before removing from pan and allow to cool completely.<\/p>\n<p>While cakes are cooling, prepare filling.\u00a0 In a stand mixer, fitted with the whisk attachment, whisk whipping cream until stiff peaks form.\u00a0 Set aside in the fridge.\u00a0 Switching to a paddle attachment in a clean bowl, beat cream cheese until cream cheese is soft.\u00a0 Add icing sugar and vanilla and mix until smooth.\u00a0 Add whipped cream to cream cheese mixture, and mix until smooth. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ensure that each cake layer is even and level.\u00a0 Place one chocolate cake on a cake board and smooth about 1\/2 cup of filling onto it in an even layer.\u00a0 Place the vanilla cake layer on next and repeat with a 1\/2 cup of filling.\u00a0 Smooth the filling on top.\u00a0 Place the second chocolate cake on top, and cover the entire cake in a layer of filling.\u00a0 At this point, I always like to place in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes (to set the cake).\u00a0 Apply a second coat to the cake with the filling.\u00a0 Place remaining filling into a piping bag fitted with a large open star tip (I used Ateco 827) and place in the fridge for later.<\/p>\n<p>Prepare chocolate ganache and pour onto the edge of cake, a small amount at a time.\u00a0 Place some crumbled Oreos in the centre of the cake, and using remaining filling, pipe large open stars in a circle.\u00a0 Place a half Oreo on top of every second star.\u00a0 Slice and serve!<\/p>\n<div class=\"addtoany_share_save_container\"><div
