American Target.\u00a0 Life is good!\u00a0 All I need now is a sprinkle covered cupcake and it would be complete.\u00a0 As I alluded to last post, it&#8217;s not all happiness right now, my friend on-screen and off, Beth from the YouTube channel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/CookingAndCrafting\" target=\"_blank\">CookingandCrafting<\/a>, <span class=\"userContent\"> is going through some very challenging times with a sick family member. If you know Beth you will know how close she is with her family. They need your help. are now my friends I&#8217;m happy to say.\u00a0 It has been so exciting to be a part of something that has had this much time to develop real relationships.\u00a0 I think that if this had been a one week program instead of the 6 month\/3 week program that it is, we definitely wouldn&#8217;t have been able to learn so much from each other.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll get to post more about that later as the week goes on!\u00a0 I&#8217;m even going to get to meet a real life cyber friend on Thursday!\u00a0 I&#8217;ve invited Miki from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mikispantry.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Miki&#8217;s Pantry <\/a>to come and join us at our wrap party!\u00a0 She&#8217;s the soothing voice behind the YouTube channel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/mikispantry\" target=\"_blank\">Miki&#8217;s Pantry<\/a>.\u00a0 We&#8217;re bound to like each other in person as we&#8217;ve been having conversation via computers since 2011 .\u00a0 I&#8217;ll post more about that later too.\u00a0 Anyway, that&#8217;s the update that is happening in LA . . . so . . . on to the cake!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0I set out to make this cake in traditional black and white zebra pattern, but while I was practicing version one (there&#8217;s usually 3-4 versions of a cake prior to a video) something about it screamed PINK PINK PINK to me!\u00a0 The black and white looked too, well, black and white.<\/p>\n<p>I started with putting a pink border around the outside.\u00a0 Yep, that definitely added the punch of colour I was looking for, but it still wasn&#8217;t PINK enough.\u00a0 When I sliced into the cake to see how the stripe effect worked out, I realized THAT was it!!\u00a0 I had to somehow get pink in the middle too!\u00a0 So I started baking version two . . . by the time it was ready for filming I had version three mastered as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Pink Zebra Cake<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>2 \u00bd cups all purpose flour (300 g) <br \/>2 cups sugar (400 g)<br \/>\u00be cups vegetable oil (180 mL)<br \/>1 teaspoon vanilla (5 mL) <br \/>2 \u00bc teaspoons baking powder (~11 mL)<br \/>1\/2 teaspoon salt <br \/>4 eggs<br \/>1 cup milk (240 mL)<br \/>white, pink, and black gel paste <br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=2696\" target=\"_blank\">vanilla buttercream<\/a><br \/>black fondant<br \/>pink buttercream<br \/>Wilton tip 1A<\/p>\n<p><em>*white colouring is optional if you wish to have a lighter batter, you can use the batter as is<\/em><br \/><em>*you may also choose to omit the pink portion, and just use it as black<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC_1949blog.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-4878\" title=\"Zebra Cake\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC_1949blog.jpg\" alt=\"Zebra Cake\" width=\"599\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC_1949blog.jpg 800w, http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC_1949blog-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Procedure<\/strong>:<br \/>Preheat oven to 350F\/170F.\u00a0 In the bowl of a stand mixer combine, flour, sugar, baking powder, vegetable oil and vanilla on low\/medium until ingredients are mixed together.\u00a0 Add the eggs one at a time, mixing on low in between additions.\u00a0 Slowly add the milk while the mixer on and mix until all ingredients are completely combined.\u00a0 Divide batter into three different bowls with one bowl having half of the batter and the other two have a quarter each.\u00a0 Colour the large bowl with white colouring, and the smaller two with black and pink respectively.\u00a0 Mix colouring until no light streaks remain.\u00a0 Spray two 8\u201d pans with non-stick spray and line bottom with parchment\/baking\/wax paper.\u00a0 Place four tablespoons of white batter into the center of each pan.\u00a0 Then, directly into the middle of the white batter, place two tablespoons of black batter.\u00a0 Directly into the centre of the black batter, place two tablespoons of pink batter.\u00a0 Repeat white\/black\/pink batter additions until all the batter is used up or pans are \u2154 full.\u00a0 Place pans into oven and bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.\u00a0 Allow to cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes, remove from pan, and cool completely on a wire wrack.<br \/>Once cake is cooled, level, stack and cover in white buttercream.\u00a0 To cut the fondant pieces, roll fondant out very thinly and using a rolling cutter (pizza or pastry) slice long, narrow stripes and arrange on white cake as desired.\u00a0 To finish the cake off, using the pink buttercream with Wilton 1A tip, pipe a small beaded border along the bottom of
