{"id":3949,"date":"2013-06-10T16:15:39","date_gmt":"2013-06-10T16:15:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.com\/?p=3949"},"modified":"2015-12-09T02:39:02","modified_gmt":"2015-12-09T02:39:02","slug":"how-to-make-margarita-cake-pops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/?p=3949","title":{"rendered":"How to Make Margarita Cake Pops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>These cake pops are the greatest thing to bring to a backyard party or barbeque for summer!! \u00a0I originally made them with Cinco de Mayo in mind, but now that I&#8217;m finally getting around to making the blog post, they&#8217;re perfect for summer . . . or next year&#8217;s fifth of May!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9m5U6A141ec\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Margarita Cake Pops<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>You can make as many of these cake pops as you wish, depending on the amount of cake pop filling you make. \u00a0Approximately one cup (240 milliliters) of crumbs will make three cake pops.<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Cake crumbs<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u2028Prepared buttercream<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Cake pop\/lollipop sticks<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Coloured candy melts *reserve one candy melt per pop for the base of the glass<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Cake pop\/lollipop sticks<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Sanding sugar<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mini lime sugar candies<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Procedure:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Combine cake crumbs with buttercream and blend together using your hands until you get a play dough like consistency. If the mixture is too wet, add more crumbs, too dry, add more buttercream.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Using a small cookie scoop, scoop out equal portions of cake pop filling and roll each into a small ball. Shape the cake pop into a rounded prism-like shape to imitate the top of the margarita glass. \u00a0Place each prism on a parchment lined baking tray and set aside. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Melt the candy melts in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl, by using 30-60 second intervals at 50% power and stir repeatedly after each interval of time. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When chocolate is melted and no chocolate chunks remain, dip 1 inch (2.5 centimeter) of a lollipop stick into the melted chocolate and insert the dipped portion of the stick into the narrow portion of the prism (the base of the margarita glass). \u00a0Repeat as required for each cake pop.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Take tray with cake pops and place into the freezer for about 10 minutes to harden the chocolate on the sticks. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When sticks are set, remove pops from freezer, and coat cake pops completely by dipping the prisms into the melted chocolate (re-melt chocolate if necessary), allow the excess chocolate to drip off and stand cake pop upright in a cake pop stand and allow them to harden completely. \u00a0Repeat for required number of cake pops.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After the pops have dried, make a small hole in the centre of one of the reserved melts. \u00a0Slide the candy melt onto the end of the pop stick and up about 1.5 inches (3.8 centimeters) \u00a0from the bottom of the pop. \u00a0This is the base of the glass. \u00a0Once it is in place, coat the actual stick between the cake pop and the wafer with the melted chocolate. \u00a0This is the stem of the glass. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To add the finishing touches to the cake pop, pipe a fine line of melted chocolate along the rim of the glass, and roll it in the sanding sugar to coat the rim. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Add additional melted chocolate to attach the mini lime candies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Allow to harden completely in a cake pop stand before serving, and serve when desired, or store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/DSC_5689site.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3950\" title=\"Margarita Cake Pops \" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/DSC_5689site.jpg\" alt=\"Margarita Cake Pops \" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/DSC_5689site.jpg 600w, http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/DSC_5689site-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0I hope you enjoyed the tutorial!
