\u00a0To play this game you place blocks and build anything you want! \u00a0I researched that, yo. \u00a0I had no idea what Minecraft was when I first heard the name. \u00a0And after telling people about the cake I was working on, I learned I was not alone. \u00a0Who are the people making this game popular? \u00a0I know exactly who . . . the YOUNG! \u00a0Unfortunately, I am not in that age category anymore. \u00a0I&#8217;m not my Grandma old (98), but apparently, neither am I young, or hip. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-lqLaW28pZo\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This cake was one of the most time consuming cakes I have ever undertook. \u00a0Actually, I think it can claim first prize. \u00a0From start to finish, it took me around 20 hours to complete this cake. \u00a0I can&#8217;t believe my short attention span lasted that long!\u00a0 The construction of the cake is not technically difficult, it is simply very time consuming.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_5626.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3506 aligncenter\" title=\"Minecraft Cake\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_5626.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first step was to make the 1,620 one centimeter by one centimeter squares.\u00a0 1,620!\u00a0 I ended up with a couple dozen left over, but that was better than being short a couple!\u00a0 I used a mixture of gum paste and fondant to make the squares, and used a french fry cutter blade to cut out multiple squares at a time.\u00a0 I let them dry and harden over a couple of days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_5629.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3507 aligncenter\" title=\"Minecraft Cake\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_5629.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"397\" height=\"600\" sizes=\"(max-width: 397px) 100vw, 397px\" \/><\/a>After I had all of the squares cut out . . . which took about ten of the twenty hours, it was time to carve the cake.\u00a0 This cake in particular was a dense chocolate cake, filled with salted caramel buttercream.\u00a0 I wanted to use a heavy cake for this one to ensure that it would hold up during the carving and construction process.<\/p>\n<p>Cutting the cake perfectly square was essential.\u00a0 I wanted it to be a PERFECT 9&#8243; cube.\u00a0 So, using a (clean, brand new) metal square, I measured, sketched the cut lines, lined them up, and using the GIANT cake carving knife, I started carving.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_5644.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3509\" title=\"MInecraft Cake\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_5644.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"694\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_5644.jpg 600w, http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_5644-259x300.jpg 259w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After the cube of cake was carved, I went about icing it.\u00a0 I thought this step would be incredibly hard, but it ended up being surprising easy.\u00a0 I referred to the metal square to make sure that I was icing evenly, and in relative short time, it was covered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_5666.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3513 aligncenter\" title=\"Minecraft Cake\" src=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_5666.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"430\" height=\"600\" sizes=\"(max-width: 430px) 100vw, 430px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The first line of the tiles was essential to ensuring that the cube remained perfectly square.\u00a0 I carefully lined the first row up and just went from there, working my way down.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Finishing this cake was one of my happiest moments.\u00a0 I knew it looked awesome . . . and I was incredibly happy to be finished!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookiescupcakesandcardio.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/DSC_5690.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The little guy on top is called a Creeper.\u00a0 I made it out of solid gum paste, and then used coloured buttercream to create the &#8220;pixelation&#8221;.\u00a0 Using a wood skewer, I pushing it into the (very solid) cake.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">If you&#8217;re about to take on the task of making a cake like this, make sure you give yourself plenty of time!\u00a0 It&#8217;s pretty simple when you think about it, it just takes a long time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div
